but it does look like Vermantide 2. Another 4 player MP co-op game in the left for dead style.
They never said it's going to be something else. It even has the "tide" in the title. The changes and improvements are noticeable to veterans of the series.
Got 3 out of the 4 classes to 30. Can't be assed to do it with the Ogryn - as much as he's great to have on the "carry items to the objective" missions, his fat-ass blocking friendly bullets and obstructing the view seems more like a liability than a help.
Out of the 3, I'd say the Zealot is the most action packed, fun, and in your face (definitely the one you want to "learn" to play the game on when you're first starting out).
Sharpshooter is a special killing machine once you get the Bolter on him (although Zealot can use that gun too). Combine that with the level 20 optic camo perk that makes most enemies ignore you if you're standing still and it's super fun to just mow down the specials across the map.
Psyker is all show and no go IMO. The class is heavily micromanagement dependent (with focus being on keeping up those brain burst buff stacks). The thing is, everything he can do one of the other classes can do better: Sharpshooter can kill the specials faster, more efficiently, and is a lot easier to keep alive. Zealot can equip a flamethrower and do area denial/DPS better than the poor psyker. Not sure what his role really is.
Not much to do once you hit 30 aside from grinding for materials for the crafting (even then, 3 out of the 4 crafting options are still locked in the pre-order beta).
Fun game, got about 100 hours into it, but the excitement has definitely waned.
Basically this.
The thing is there is not much variety. I played 15 hours and I feel like I've seen it all. I think most performance and disconnection bugs are fixed now, at least I didn't get any.
I'm a W40K fanatic and really wouldn't recommend it. Just watch the funny dialogue from it on YT.
It's yet another Early Access game masquerading as a full release.
I think they wanted to make something episodic like Destiny 2. But there is no narrative base for such an approach. They hired a Dan Abnett to write the story, yet the game has no story at all. It was most likely scarped at some point and they just kept a bunch of cutscenes that make no sense without context. On the other hand, new cosmetics arrive weekly in the microtransactions shop.
If you want background it's here on some third party YT channel about lore in games.

We take enormous pride in our ability at Fatshark to deliver a game that millions can enjoy. This was what we set out to do with Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – to create a highly engaging and stable game with a level of depth that keeps you playing for weeks, not hours.
We fell short of meeting those expectations.
Over the next few months, our sole focus is to address the feedback that many of you have. In particular, we will focus on delivering a complete crafting system, a more rewarding progression loop, and continue to work on game stability and performance optimization.
This also means that we will delay our seasonal content rollout and the Xbox Series X|S launch. We will also suspend the upcoming releases of premium cosmetics. We just couldn’t continue down this path, knowing that we have not addressed many feedback areas in the game today.
Thank you for playing and providing feedback. We really appreciate it. It has and will continue to help shape the game we love.
