I got a pretty big yard for a house in a neighborhood of houses. About 3/4 an acre (around 3000 sq/m). Push mowing it would take a couple hours. (edit forgot its size, had to go look I was off)
I mow my yard by paying a dude $80 a month to do it 
Only reason he's so cheap is he comes to do the two houses on each side of me already, so negotiated down to the lowest he would go to do it while here anyway.
Edit: even if I had a small yard. I would pay someone. I spent 2 years working at a cemetery doing burials and grass cutting/trimming (you do lawn maint. when no services to do). So had MORE than my fill of mowing 8 hours nearly everyday for 2 years, to fill my lifetime
