@Areius At least we have a real date now, but PC could even be delayed to 2028 now if they release new consoles in 2027 Rolling Eyes

It's the first, but not the last delay. They'll push it to september/october to be closer to the holiday season.

I mean it's been said often enough, but the chance that this thing is overhyped is just so extremely high. I am also really looking forward to this. But if it still uses the quarter-century old mission structure where you are very restricted in what you need to do (see NakeyJakey video), then this is not the big shot everyone is waiting for.

Also it's a bummer they release it so late in the console cycle again. Sure, they want to have the largest install-base they can get. GTA V was launched on a console released in 2006 (!), so basically limited to the hardware of that time. By the time GTA VI launches, the PS5 will be 6 years old and thus the game is limited to what that allows technically.

Sure, there will be a next-gen version with higher res and fps etc., but the foundation of the game is still restricted to old hardware yet again.

That's a good thing. At least you know that they're working on optimising the engine. There's nothing worse than too ambitious developers that cram all the next gen tech into their game that has microstutters at 60 fps, and looks horrible when graphics are lowered.

Are games released closer to the console launch date better or the ones released at the end of their life cycle? You have some nice PS2/PS3/PS4 examples. Hardware limitations are no excuse. Some newer games on PC looks and runs worse than the older games made by the right hands. But on PC it's easier to skip the optimization because new hardware is always available.

It's not as much about competence of devs, it's more about restrictions. If they need to optimise a thing for an ageing hardware, the chances of it running well on new hardware are increased.

Yeah, it's mostly about how they structure the world, gameplay etc. They can always increase NPC density and that kinda stuff, but if the world or mission design is held back due to older hardware, that would be a bummer. But let's see. We haven't really seen anything and the game is more than 1 year away.

Not the biggest fan of the Bonnie & Clyde-sque premise, but the visuals and attention to detail look very impressive as per tradition. It looks like GTA alright. Of course that includes the obligatory snubbing of the PC world and classic shamefur Rockstarian $henanigan$, then again water is wet.

use FusionFix mod if you are not already... it repairs many bugs and glitches, including graphical (z-fighting, night lights... restores Xbox look). I replayed GTA IV couple of months ago with TLAD and now I am in middle of TBOG. Best GTA imho overall, especially immersion and storywise...

Ok someone said it. I didn't want to be the one saying it Razz
I dont get CGI trailers for video games. What does that have to do with the game we are buying?

Realy curious what happens when this releases. Seems they are still releasing a the kind of pubertal trash the game is known for. GTA is to big now and with the culture wars going on.... Some people will go apeshit over this. Entertainment guaranteed. Laughing

it's mostly americans going apeshit and falling for ragebait on all sides because that's how the content machine works.
Instead of being mad over real problems I guess there's always entertainmment products one can use as a punching bag for any reason.

gta has always been about causing chaos in a "realistic" sandbox and getting your money back from prostitutes. As long as they deliver that, most will be happy.

Framerate in that trailer is a bit choppy, or is that just me?
