Absolutely, Dirt Rally 2.0 hands down. It may not have the complete WRC license or a particularly well-balanced career but it offers great simulative physics with lots of challenging tracks, a rock-solid presentation and the best roster of vintage cars (the most satisfying ones to drive ). It supports VR as well which is another plus if you have the equipment for it.
It looks to be a minor update to WRC9 even if the developers say it has new physics and sounds. Anyway, I bought it, I have to try it for myself. If anyone else did, here's a nice reshade for it
They're practically doing what Milestone also did after losing the SBK license back in the day, a quick 'Generations' repack including all their previous content with a few additions and au revoir.
I'm both really curious and scared to see what EA will do with the WRC franchise..will the Dirt Rally team actually work on it? Will it feature Ultimate Cards with legendary platinum Loeb/Ogier drops and the extra-rare Vaughn Gittin Jr.? Will it include the emotional story of an enby rising star from [insert minority]? So many questions.
I imagine the biggest obstacle is porting the ol' EGO physics to Unreal Engine without making the handling feel awkward, but anything is possible if the dev team is talented enough. Hopefully, the game will still be a sim under the hood as it would be very silly to bastardize something that worked so well in the past - also considering that driving assists do exist.
The presence of in game purchases and a Rally Pass with multiple VIP Seasons is a classic though. At least there aren't any cards...yet
So they said that they are using unreal cuz it supports 30+ km stages. But graphics sucks, it looks worse than Dirt2. Also the game stutters. Pfft.. at least handling is good.
That's sad But hardly surprising considering it's EA.
And WRC is almost dead anyway, with Hyundai rumored to be pulling out, leaving Toyotas racing against each other and MSport just tagging along.
