This game So Much Win

So much better then the first. This is the first time in over a decade I play a game like I used to as a kid playing it as a sandbox just enjoying the world. It's so immersive.
Only downside is that i can't help myself exploiting the mechanics. I have killed countless sheep to boost stats. And mid-late game balance is non existent. Seems they have only balanced to first 10 hours or just did the main quest without extra's.

I don't think that balancing will be enough. There's no variety to enemies, once you figure how it goes, all fights end the same. A common issue with practically all open world game, but still. They will need to give enemies more attack options, or redo underlying rpg engine. I don't think that there's a point in doing that, it'd be better to focus on the sequel.

But what you are describing was exactly what happened in the first game, and they should have focused on fixing it in this sequel

It goes from realism > power fantasy too quickly, but most people might like that

The original had a hardcore mode + mods to compliment it, that's about as good as it's going to get for this eventually

I think the devs don't care about the balance and consider this a roleplaying experience and that you should create your own fun with the tools the game give. It's not a game that is supposed to be challenging. And part of the role playing experience they envision is that you start out very weak and the game is hard, but the late game balance doesn't matter for the devs. That's also the point of the drinking skill for instance. They give you the option to play the game as a drunk, if that is what you are going for. And wisdom. Wanne be dum Henry or smart Henry. The devs don't actually care if you only focus about getting stronger and becomming OP in the proces. It's not about the chalange for them but it's the roleplaying that matters.

Mid-late game can be easily fixed if they wanted to. Adding difficulty settings would be enough. Or some level scaling. I think the game would benefit from this.

But for those that want a more difficult game, i guess there are plenty of mods to fix this?

By the time the game will be fully "Enhanced" and "Devinitive'd"... there's a chance that tweaks and fixes will be made in every aspect.

I'm still on 1.1.2.
I heard patch 1.2+ pretty much breaks the game and makes it way more broken. Should I update to latest version or hold still men?

I believe 1.2.2 fixed it, that version seems fine.

Hardcore Mode arrives April 15
Quote:
A tougher, deeper, more immersive Bohemia awaits.

Ready to suffer? Good. Hardcore Mode lands in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II on April 15.

This isn’t just a difficulty spike—it’s a whole new way to play. Your position is no longer shown on the map, fast travel is gone, and the compass? Useless. You’ll need to navigate the world by sight and local gossip alone.

At the start, you’ll pick at least three negative perks to carry for your entire journey. It’s not just harder. It’s more immersive, more brutal, and more Bohemia. Whether you’re chasing a challenge or looking for a new way to lose yourself in 15th-century Europe, Hardcore Mode is your next test. Ready?

Finished it today finally. Overall I'd give it an 8.5/10.

I loved the world, the game ran great and was immersive and beautiful as hell. The sidequests were really solid, but I was a bit lukewarm on the main quest. The ending had poor pacing IMO.

The combat was more accessible, but at the same time, it felt dumbed down because I never could find a good option for combos. Master strikes, faints and clinches were the way to go.

Similar to the first game, never got into alchemy. Archery felt underpowered and didn't bother with it as well.

The quests themselves I feel lacked a bit of freedom at times and multiple approaches. Or maybe alternative ones weren't as obvious or better than.

The biggest dissapointment that I had was poor gear progression. One of the first quests I've made was the Brunswick armor set which was behind a really simple riddle and that lasted me the majority of the game without a need for upgrade.

You also get the best sword way too early in the game and even then I managed to get the second best one (St Valentines) very early in Kuttenberg because I wanted to see the city straight away and stumbled upon this knight that was looking for it.

Mutt as a companion also felt a bit undercooked, I was hoping I could do something like finding bandit's stashes if I gave mutt some of their gear to whiff at, but it seemed to be limited to only a few items?

Overall I enjoyed my time, but felt it was a very safe sequel without too much in terms of differentiation above the first game.

I thought it was excellent until the horrible balance issues made it too easy and I got bored and stopped shortly after arriving to Kuttenberg.

Yes, Brunswick armor invalidates most of the progression and makes you pretty much unkillable for the entire first half and even beyond. Yes, daddy's sword is also OP, too easily obtained and invalidates the rest of the weapon progression. Not to mention it's too easy to kill full plate enemies with blades, they should realistically be almost impervious to swords. You level too fast and the skill points and weapon damage scale too far, the numbers are too big, as is often the case in poorly balanced RPG's.

First one was way more fun imo. Starting off a helpless peasant and becoming a killing machine is far more fun than the difficulty curve of the 2nd game.

This one had some extremely memorable cinematics and characters though. Sigismund, Dry Devil, Zizka-all had some genuinely laugh out loud moments.

Great game but didn't scratch that itch that the first one did.

I completely agree. Played the first one multiple times, love it to bits. In the second one I felt unstoppable at the end of the first map and that never changed. Never once felt like I was in danger of dying after that. Once you get plate, the curve is gone. In the first one it was MUCH more difficult to get to that point and even then you were not invincible. A huge waste as I love the world, I really do, but the gameplay just isn't there for me.

KCD1 just had a thougher start, but it had the same gameplay loop where you'd become overpowered in a couple of hours.
Also the combat is so bad that it's just not fun in both games. Early in KCD2 while being weak takes something of about 5 minutes to kill a mob and you'll be dead after an error. Great challenge Laughing. The easier the combat gets, the better.
It's nothing more then avoid aggro and not being hit in the back fighting multiple enemies.

This game isn't about combat or being chalenging IMHO. It's an immersive medieval life simmulator. Still a lot of fun and a great game. But if you play this for longer sessions it's getting tedious fast cause there is no actual challenging gameplay.
