If so-called terrorists existed under the nazi rule in the 1930's/40's then I would support them. If they had the power to stop the damage ruled out by the nazi regime, then I would hand them the Medal of Honor. And if you look at the circumstances in the movie, V's actions are necessary to bring it all down. |
No it's not necessary, there's proof of how corrupt that goverment is, that cop found out all about it. You can't compare this to the nazi regime, other times, other situation, they were not at war with the rest of the world and something like Germany in 1939 can't really happen again nowadays. No innocents killed?? come on have you ever seen a bombing with no victims?
Spoiler: |
do you really think everyone working in the parlement was evil? Do you actually believe it was empty? You don't see it in the movie, but it still happens.
Even if you like the IRA's way of thinking, could you really give them a medal for all the buildings they blew up and the innocents they killed? You could say it's not the same because the IRA doesn't have a decent cause to defend, but that's your way of seeing it, for the IRA people they are doing what's necessary. Same thing, other point of view.
But i'm completely off topic now, the fact is, people died, and they were killed by a terrorrist while there were other options, people were rebelling on their own even after he first appeared on TV. Blowing up Big Ben was uncalled for.

When did I mentioned IRA?
IRA are fighting for independence not a fascist government. The cop couldnt bring down shit with the evidence of the poisoning, and the movie points out fine how nazi alike rule can exist. Also V warned people what would happen a year from now. He did warned them. When he killed the people on the top, when that became news lies were brought up and people had revelations and put 2 and 2 together and when the movie moves near the 5th of november they are tired and are going out on the streets to fight the government. The Parlament and Bigben was the image of the corruption, the bombing of it made a metaphor on liberty and revolution

you didn't bring up the IRA, i did just to make the comparisson, which you clearly didn't get at all. V fights for what he thinks is right and he'll do anything to get it done. IRA: same thing, they fight for what they believe in and what they want. But this is going nowhere, i just feel that praising tarrorrist actions like that in our day and age is not a good idea at all. You should at least be able to admit that he is nothing more but a terrorrist, if i recall correctly he even says so himself at one point.
I have nothing against political movies, but this one is just giving some really bad ideas...
I had my say, you had yours, could we drop it now? Don't feel like fighting

mutantius didn't understand the matador so don't try and teach him this, it's far too complex. I think he should stick to no brainer films like fun with dick and jane.

The parts that were meant to be great in V were fantastic. Everything else was either shallow, slow or not to the point.
I loved almost every minute of it. Wachowski's should've done a better job.
Also it was censored. Very much so. Should've stayed true to the comics for the character development part.
And seeing this. Seeing how looks and how it feels. You really wonder why they couldn't have done a simmilar atmoshpere with reloaded and revolutions.
V and Matrix are so simmilar. The way they're shot and shit
I laughed my ass at the knife-time thing.
I did enjoy it. 8
good night, and good luck. 9
Mullholland Drive (sp), 9.5
Memoirs Of a Geiisha, 4.5
Matchpoint, 8 ( loved it in the theatres also)
and
Eternal Sunshine of a spotless mind. (I love this movie) 9

His last project A.I. that was taken over by Spielberg is probably the most boring of all. The ending is just being dragged on for ages. When you think it's finally over, the aliens come into play, that's when i turned it of saying: "i'm not wasting 30 more minutes on this crap".
|
Just to set the record straight: When I saw the movie in the theatre, I, too, was quite surprised to see aliens in it, but later on realized they are in fact robots. Descendants of the boy, to be precise. And they extracted him from the ice, because he still has memories of humans, which are long extinct at the time. He's kind of a live artifact for them.
After I realized this, the movie made much more sense to me and is one of my favorites since. It does have its flaws though and is - in parts - quite boring.

AI should be viewed as a Sci-Fi Drama experience and not what the trailer made it look like.
