Heretic - 5,5/10

The movie starts off promising with its intrigue and tense dialogues delivered by good ol' Hugh Grant and the two cute gals, but it rapidly descends into silly tripe following resolutions coming straight from the hurrur playbook for dummies. Heresy!

The Brutalist - 6,5/10

A strange beast to analyze, providing some quality visuals, competent acting (with Brody being a perfect fit for the role again) and a potentially interesting story that, however, doesn't quite have the chops to become as grandiose as it wants to be. There is character development until there isn't, and the many ideas feel randomly crammed into a central plot that doesn't really lead anywhere in the second half, leaving that work-in-progress emptiness afterwards. But perhaps that was the whole point.

Minecraft (2025) 4/10

Had to go see it because my son wanted to see it. I mean it's nothing but reference after reference without proper context, but then again I was expecting nothing less. My son loved it though.

Mickey 17 (2025) 6/10

Interesting premise and had some fun bits, but felt lacking in some way. Also was more goofier than I thought it would be.

I watched a movie last night with my daughter called My Dead Friend Zoe.
I wanted to watch a horror movie but she rarely agrees to it.
It was kind of a black comedy/drama but entertaining despite it being a bit of a slow burn.
Ed Harris was good in it but since it’s ages since I’ve seen him anything, unsurprisingly he’s looking old now lol.
The movie its also based on a true story apparently.
I’d rate it 6/10 I think.

It had a great premise that could have accomplished so much more, then like you said, the steady descent into not schlock but tripe.

If you're intrigued by the synopsys and Hugh Grant, don't be. He's doing his job but as always, a good actor can't save a doomed script.
It's honestly a waste of time.
It will leave you with the notion that you'd rather had watched something else.

3/10 breakdown:
8/10 "beginning", 4/10 "middle", 1/10 resolution.

Heretic was indeed not very good... super disappointed.

Dune (new one). 8.5/10. Loved it, amazing to get such a good sci-fi in this day and age. Gotta see the second one soon.

Sinners 7.9/10

It would be great horror movie if not for a lot wink wink white people and christianity are bane of the world.
Most movie reviews are saying is the moty but really there is some heavy flaws. There's a - spoiler - mid movie scene that is some philosophical shit about culture with characters from all epochs showing in fever dream montage that just breaks you from immersion. Last action scene being just a fuck you to one particular shit group of shit people just for the showing a big middle finger- but mind you somehow logically written to the movie. And some more nitpicks.

I enjoyed it but definitely not a movie of the year.

Color out of Space. 4/10.

Nick Cage is terrible in this, overall nothing too exciting here, too bad because there aren't too many good cosmic horror movies. it kind of starts of good enough, like one of those decent enough Stephen King movies, but nah, didn't like it at all. Boring characters, Cage's character is not well written or interesting, the kids are boring and generic. Generic story with everything you just expect...
