If you decide for Kindle, you should be aware that if you intend to have all your books on it, the organization becomes a mess. I much rather have my collection in Calibre and only upload few books at a time to my kindle and delete them when I'm done.

Unfortunately there's no way to organize your collections from PC. There are some apps and plugins for Calibre but they all require jailbroken Kindle, which is only available for older firmware versions as far as I know. Still, it's no big deal for me, I don''t read that much, only few books per year so having hundreds of books on my kindle would be silly. Smile

At the moment I'm more tempted with the kobo, but still undecided if the HD screen models are worth it for the extra price.

Also the local used sites here are not listing any kobo... the official store has the standard Aura for 99€ and the gloHD for 130€, if I really have to choose from those two then the HD seems like a no-brainer Smile
Still I'll look around a bit more.

I can buy a used Aura HD for you and mail it if you're up for it, Should be around 80 euros. There are a few on sale. I don't know how the glo HD is, maybe it's worth it for 50 euros more.

E Ink Introduces E Ink Ripple™ and Second-Generation Waveform Architecture for E Ink Spectra™ Displays

March 27, 2025 – Billerica, MA – E Ink (8069.TW) the originator, pioneer, and global commercial leader in electronic paper (ePaper) technology, today announced a breakthrough for their E Ink Spectra™ product line to reduce page flashing and enhance color performance.

By implementing a wave-like transition effect known as E Ink Ripple, screen refresh effects are minimized, enabling a smoother transition between display updates. Additionally, by leveraging the newly developed waveform driving architecture, E Ink enhances color mixing for its E Ink Spectra products by using the existing color particles to create new color options.

In addition to E Ink Ripple, E Ink has created a new waveform architecture, that combined with an upgraded integrated chipset system to 3-bit processing, expands the current color display system for E Ink Spectra 6 to include eight primary colors for enhanced visual details.

They're gonna demonsrate these improvements in April 16-18 in Taiwan event, as far as I understood.
The eink scene has been stagnant for years: B&W are fine with their Carta 1200/1300. However color displays, based Caleido 3 and Gallery 3, lack in color gamut. The newcomer Spectra 6/Spectra 6 plus boasts much wider color pallette, but has abysmal refresh rates of around 15 sec. Hopefully these declared innovations will greatly improve Spectra based color displays, after all, some news sites call this piece of news a breakthrough.
