cool thx for that. thats wierd tho, I dont think the 360 version had soft shadows (or maybe it did?) But i dunno why since my computer sucks compared to the 360's hardware and I can still run the game with soft shadows enabled decently. Well, i can run FEAR with it enabled at least, but the gfx in this are identical so im assuming i could enable them in this as well.

Awesome game! And sweet looking too, everything maxed out, no AA, 4xAF and runs like a charm.
Pretty scary too...

No way I'm even going to bother getting this. I almost had a heart attack playing halflife 2.. and that game is not even scary (according to most people).

I still have to play FEAR but the scariest game i ever played was Alien vs Predator. I would have to stop every now and then to let my heart-rate drop.

You don't open it... have to go around instead. There should be a doorway off to the left, seems like it was a fire axe one, but I can't remember for sure.

Anyone else has no sounds during cutscenes?
The sound is fine but as soon as it goes to cutscene the dialogue is muted.
Could it be the crack?
Any way of hiding dvd? Tried safehide v1.1 no luck.

Not the crack. It could be a problem if you are on 64bit windows, or dual core.

Nope, 32bit here.
All other recent games work perfectly including Fear, no ace codec packs installed, tried reinstalling, updating audio drivers.

I think this game uses the same engine as FEAR did (graphics sound etc are the same, even the physics). And with both of these games I have sound problems sometimes.
Its exactly like fear: sometimes some of the sound is missing or sound is like full of static or smt like that. And when you READ the READ ME file you know there are some simple ways to fix it. And its exactly the same as with fear. So read the read me file and try some things out. I personally got the sounds back but still in some levels the so called "clicking" sound bug.
I dont understand why people dont read the read me file. Thats why its there.
But about the game: the game is really good. Especially the game play and fighting. Reminds me a little bit of silent hill and still life and the fighting system little bit reminds me of manhunt but not that bloody.
And people who say that the game is to dark : if you have nice monitor which brightness level is not f*cked up then its not dark at all. And what the hell do you expect ? The action takes place in abandoned buildings and streets. To you think that all the building should be in excellent contrition? Like all the lights and all should work? You must be a idiot if you think that. Have you ever been in a place that's abandoned? I think not but i have and no shit Sherlock: there wasn't event electricity there and @ night it was dark.
This far i think the game atmosphere is excellent. And only thing that i dont like is that sound bug i m having.
PS: doom 3 wasnt dark at all if you had a good monitor. And if you are afraid of the dark then just dont play these games. There are some games that arent scary and dark. And they even have this T crap or 3+ rating
