It's pretty bad, I couldn't get more than a couple of hours in. I managed to get a cheap key so it's on the backburner, but it's just a mish mash of shit that really shows they have no idea what they are doing. Seeing what will stick, it seems like.

The PS2 era was the last time it seemed like they were on track. And the only decent FF's these days are based on those from the PSX era.

This keeps happening for so many different games, it's like creativity no longer exists and it's all just derivative nonsense, eg: the obvious Game of Thrones inspiration in this one. Think of how different the worlds, lore etc were going from FF6 > FF7 > FF8 > FF9 > FF10 in all of those games that were released within 7 years. Such a FEAT of creativity, executed perfectly, while handling the transition from 2D > 3D. Now they can't pull off anywhere near as much, in any interesting way, in development cycles that are 7 years for just a single game.

I remember having arguments on this very forum about how turn based wasn't dead, it just wasn't given a chance. Now look at Baldur's Gate 3 and how well it's doing. And I feel like with FF games, the old ATB method (not the faux ATB shit like in FF7Remake) + more complex combat would be well received if they just gave it a proper chance. But no, now we get cheats/accessories out of the box for mass-mass appeal.

I suggest you look at Fantasian, which was just released for the PC and consoles. It's made by the former FF guys and is a real treat. Story is maybe a tad too simple, but that is because it was a mobile game initially.

Thanks, I did add it to my wishlist the other day, hoping for a Steam sale, but nope. Not paying ~$70 for a mobile game Mad

Until it is cheaper, I did come across this turn based game which looks pretty good:

90FPS on Deck as well Dude Cool

Gonna piss off a lot of FF weeb fans but the only FF game I could stand was the FF7 remake since it didn't have the pointless grindy horse shit the rest do.
I remember being bored and trying FF 15 only to get even more bored and wonder how could anyone enjoy running around as an emo teen doing the most boring lazy quests you can imagine and insta shift deleted.

Is this more like that? Cuz I ain't paying to find out lol

I'm a FF fan
I finished almost all FF games besides world of final fantasy, FFX-2 and rebirth (since its not out on pc).

I found FF 15 mid and besides the amazing graphics and the boss fights (spectacle)
FF 16 is even worse. So no i wouldnt recommend it.
(I bought FF16 with all dlcs for 30 dollars and still feel i paid too much)

Yeah honestly it's pretty terrible and i even really like character action games but i rather replay every DMC or Bayo for the 1000th time then touch this again.

I recommend Fantasian Neo Dimension for someone in the mood for a old school FF like (or anything else from Mistwalker/Sakaguchi).
I had a really good time with it, great FFX style combat and it's one of the hardest games Sakaguchi has ever made. PC version has Derpnuvo (probably not for long) but the switch version runs great in emulators.

In the beginning the game seems nice but it gets old pretty fast.
Haven't experienced such a bland gameplay loop in a while.
The exploration is nearly non-existent.
Other basic stuff in any rpg such as progression system, loot, crafting, balancing is made by a 4 year old. Scratch that, 4 year olds are more imaginitive than the crap presented here.
It really is a shame as a world, writing, graphics and sound are decent enough but there isn't any substantial gameplay or systems to back it up.
Tried really hard to finish it despite it beign sooo mind-numbing slog (I don't know really why, maybe I hate myself and I'm a sucker for eyecandy) but I gave up on 2nd dlc's bullshit timer boss fight with long unskippable failure animation, shift-deleted with no regrets.
Why the fuck it got so many positive reviews is beyond me... To my surprise it really deserves no better than 4/10. Thankfucik I didn't buy this, it's barely worth isodemoing, ughh.
