At least the setting should be much better rather than near future #yolo stuff.
It is too early to say much but let's wait and see. It's not that we have too many options to fill our Battlefield shots but hopefully this time they really went a few steps back and recreate something what wasn't broken in the first place.
I hope that this game won't have any operators or heroes but rather unknown soldiers.
As many on Youtube already commented. 'Please be good.'

I have been in queue for nearly 12 hours now to sign up for that Battlefield Labs shit - signed in at 11 am, started at 180k. It is now nearly midnight, and there are still 30k people in front of me.
Don't even know if it will let me sign up - as the min sys requirements list a 2060. Not sure how hard they're going to enforce that (if it's going to be one of those fucking Ray Tracing required games like Indiana Jones, Final Fantasy etc.) or if that's just an arbitrary suggestion.
I have I don't know how many thousands upon thousands of hours in the franchise now (probably well over 5,000), and its been really fucking tragic to see how far its fallen since the glory days. Will probably get the boot once I speak my mind.

I had the same big queue, try going to the site in a new tab while still in queue, for some reason that made me skip the queue entirely and I could sign up.... while still in queue in the other tab. I think the queue system might be b0rked.

Little late. Waited 14 hours 38 minutes in total (the last 1 hour remaining actually lasted 2 hours). Anyway, I clicked one button (+Battlefield Labs Playtest), it told me I had successfully registered (no confirmation email), and told me that if I filled out a survey it "might" increase my chances.
Survey consisted of what do you play and how long, and then, oddly (or not, as this is fucking 2025), it deemed it important to ascertain my gender (of which there were 6 options), as well as ethnicity. All of that is, of course, VITALLY important in a fucking beta tester....right? Wrote Fuck Off in Gender and skipped the ethnicity bullshit. It became readily apparent WHY 2042 was in the state it was in if this is the kind of shit they're spending their time analyzing, lol.
I suppose time will tell whether they're capable of redeeming anything, or if this one becomes the one to finally careen this once majestic franchise into the fucking corpse pit.

Battlefield 6 rumour claims 98% of the series’ developers have left
While fans wait for an official reveal for the next Battlefield game, an alleged former developer claims most of its developers are completely new to the series.
With development on Battlefield 2042 wrapping up last year, fan attention is squarely on whatever EA is cooking up next for the series. But while EA has said quite a bit about Battlefield’s future, it’s yet to actually show anything.
It’s apparent that EA has big plans for Battlefield, as no less than four different studios are working on the series ‘to build a Battlefield universe across connected multiplayer and single-player experiences.’
EA CEO Andrew Wilson called it the ‘the largest Battlefield team in franchise history,’ but it’s since been claimed that all four studios are collaborating on a single game and most of the staff have never worked on a Battlefield title before.
This comes from Bluesky user Rizible, an alleged former staff member at Battlefield series developer DICE, who posted a lengthy thread about Battlefield’s recent history over the weekend.
Their most intriguing claim is that a whopping 98% of staff who have worked on Battlefield have all left EA, meaning the next game is mostly being handled by newcomers.
Aside from DICE, EA has enlisted three other studios – Criterion, Ripple Effect, and EA Motive – to work on Battlefield.
It’s a move very similar to how Activision divvies up Call Of Duty projects amongst multiple studios, which is perhaps unsurprising given that Call Of Duty veteran Vince Zampella is in charge of the series now.
With hints of a Warzone style live service game, it’s clear EA is looking very closely at Activision’s success, as something to emulate. Although that’s hardly a new aspiration for the series, from EA’s perspective.
Rather than having them all focus on different games, Rizible claims that the four studios are instead working on different aspects of the same game (unofficially dubbed Battlefield 6), which is rumoured to be launching this year.
‘I haven’t worked there since the pivot to pull in Criterion and Motive,’ says Rizible. ‘I do think it’s interesting that the four studios are splitting up work based on content areas and not each building their own game (like the [Call Of Duty] studios do).’ They also go as far as to claim EA is aiming to copy the Call Of Duty release schedule with annual releases.
They cap off their thread with, ‘If you’re a Battlefield fan, temper your expectations. This is a new era of the game made by a completely new group of people, following a new philosophy. Whether that’s good or bad depends on your personal outlook.’
EA’s own comments and actions certainly point to a massive push for the series, with previous rumours suggesting that the next Battlefield has undergone more playtesting than any other entry.
Whether that will pay dividends remains to be seen but despite many failures in recent years, EA continues to return to the Battlefield series, where other companies might already have given up.
i meant from the article, "Battlefield 5 is the game DICE wanted to make. If you don't like the creative decisions that went into the game, you don't have to buy it."
if thats the bf5 the old dice really wanted to make then maybe a new dev is a good thing
It hit me as I was nodding off to sleep last night that I had missed an opportunity, I should have wrote in "Apace Attack Helicopter" under gender to maximize my chances of being selected.

AS IN u will probably not get invited..........i didnt said anything about not enjoying it
Fair enough, but even if limited there still is a chance
The negative side is - it's probably gonna be shite as i did not really like BF1 or BFV...bf2042 was entertaining against bots (but does not have any real bf feeling..it feels more like a totally different game tbh..)
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

I also don't miss old DICE neither. They did what they could back in the day and let's not forget that no Battlefield game was perfect. BC2 had horrible hit reg issues, BF2 was a mess at some point etc etc. It was nice while it lasted regarding the whole era since Desert Combat v0.5 mod but times have changed and some of those devs might be in their 50s or 60s by now. I'm not saying they couldn't do it again but even by having them working at DICE the outcome could still be hit or miss as with any other devs.
The most important thing is that they deliver the game community actually prefer to play. BF2042 was a good example of the game no one ever was asking for. Even the devs themselves didn't know what to do with it. Battle Royale or not? Back to BF formula after you spent so much time re-inventing the wheel? and the rest is history.
I really hope that they stick to the formula which has been proven working for so many times. Overthinking and overinnovating can usually lead to hard opinions and in that case the community is split before the game has even been released.

At least the old games launched in a somewhat usable state. None of the games have been perfect. For me BF2 and BC2 were the best ones. Vietnam and 1942 were also great. BF3 and onwards just not as good. BF3 was fun with some friends to play, but BF4 has never been fully stable for me and I've not liked the newer ones (didn't buy them either).
For whatever reason I got the survey link emailed to me again today. I filled it out correctly this time around -

Well people with different sexual identities have different opinions on first person shooter mechanics. I know my straight and gay friends argue for hours over how much recoil an M16 should have, or whether buckshot should deal 8 damage per pellet or 6.
"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.
Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty
