at this point its just proof that amd and nvidia are colluding ... and fucking criminals . disgracefull generation
and intel sitting on billions of cash twirling their thumbs ... like whaaat da fuck, they all in on it , all of them
any person with normal non bribed brain would be baking low budget cards and grabbing market share with super low effort and insane low prices needed to fill the massive void
or maybe they know that pc gaming is already ded, and just for the rich now ... cause all the younger people playing pubg on their phones ... eitherway its royally fucked and it will just get worse, dont know how, but it will get even worse. next gen will use even more power for even less gains
"5090"
Damn, this generation seems to be the perfect one for a skip... but I'd like to eventually upgrade my 3070. I can and likely will wait, but it's not looking good so far

just keep your 3070 until the PS6. Nvidia has to crash and burn into a humbling ritual before it starts providing value again instead of just highway robbery for sparkly farts.

If some of the most insane stalker anomaly mods didn't destroy 8GB+ of VRAM I probably would

Even at 1080p resolution 12 GB of VRAM is not enough.
Indiana Jones - everything maxed. (RT and PT)

The first of many more to come.
And stuff like that right there is why I'll be skipping the 12GB 5070. Can't decide which is worse, jewvidia or the retarded modern day derpelopers

For what it's worth, lowering the Texture Pool Size setting a bit (as well as the shadows) "fixed" the massive framerate drop in my case - it's due to the max settings not giving a damn about anything as they're essentially a benchmark for dem top-$helf GPU$. Going straight for the maxed-out mode is typically not recommended as there are many unnecessarily taxing things that can be lowered without losing much in terms of quality. Still, Nvidia's stinginess is a shamefur dispray.
The next wave of cards will probably be the decisive one as FireMaster mentioned since I imagine there will be a big focus on ray/path tracing (even on the next geez couch machines) and that kind of stuff eats memory for breakfast unless some ingenious solution pops up in the meantime. Not sure how neural compression can help when/if it reaches the 2.0 more mature and improved version, we'll see I guess.
Game is using almost 15 GB of VRAM on 1080p resolution.
To be devil's advocate here. People play the newest most demanding game at max 'all the things' settings, on not the beefiest hardware, and it's not even last gens beefiest hardware. And they post online it can't handle it...
Well uhh...yea. What did you expect?
Gamers: Makes games that look better damnit, when you dont we will bitch tech isn't advancing and your game looks likes shit.
(Makes games that look better, and are demanding using the newest graphics tech)
Gamers: My last gen not top-of-the-line hardware that the game didn't even exist when it was made, cannot run this game well. Stop making games my mid teir hardware cannot run on max settings.
It's always been this way, Since my Geforce 2 card. I usually have the '1 or 2 down from the flagship' card and had to not 'Turn on ALL the things" in the graphics option to get 60+ FPS on the latest eye-candy game of its time.
Fak dev kant even optmise for shit. Got 1080gtx wich uas best kard and i kant even plei on maks graffiks boikott tis bad praktis so wi get guud optmisation agen

My GTX 1080 ripped through Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 at 1080p - game looked gorgeous and ran great. Say what you will, but developers ARE to blame for shitty optimization and stupidly high "required" specs.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

If someone had told me a few months ago that this historic Nvidia fiasco was coming I wouldn't have believed it , I was planning to upgrade this year but I think it might be in my best interest to wait for an additional year, at least. Also, I'm a bit sad for all the people who are sending their hard-earned money to Nvidia to get one of these new cards.
@tonizito
Same as usual I suspect unless they got a rabbit up their sleeve.
That they will be less sketchy and fucky than Nvidia, but be 2nd tier in performance so your choices are:
- Get Nvidia because it's the flagship best, even if it shit gain compared to the last gen because they put in minimum effort since they are 'big boy on top'.
- Get AMD which is trying hard to be #1 in the market, yet unable to so get their flagship which will compete with the 5070 back and forth for best FPS depending on what you play.
I think Nvidia's strategy is partially this: Put JUST in enough gaming R&D to stay a bit ahead of AMD, so we can put more into AI and workstation development.
I feel we are back 15+ years where Intel vs AMD was happening, and Intel just coasted on being so much more capable that their gen progression sucked for a while, and AMD struggled even to keep up. We need AMD GPU to do what AMD CPU did when it came out with one that blew past Intels, because Intel was getting lazy being on top for so long.
Maybe/hopefully it's this gen.
