I can't imagine too many big budget games are going to pander to this nonsense in the future. I would be interested to see the figures for how much money has been wasted in total by the likes of Concord, Dragon Age, Dustborn etc.
I think they got overpaid and stopped giving a fuck about risking their jobs. Either that or they thought they'd be front line heroes for their upper management ideology.
It really shouldn't be hard to understand that people play games to forget about real life and politics.

Maybe that's true for some other company, but this is Obsidian. They remained independent for a good period, never had a massive success, and were always on the edge of solvency. They never could afford to be picky, but even after Microsofts acquisition, they remained faithful to their moto of making quirky games. I think that it's just the state of their environment.
Just like 'almost' ANY OTHER (YT) MEDIA channel out there.
I don't even click on their shit.
But... they're really not. Haven't seen anyone pushing/putting this game out there.
Not gamejourno slimes, not YT derpfluencer's, not microsoft.
And it's like barely more than 1 week away, dafuq is going on?

It is coming in early access right? So the hype train is starting when people start playing it, at least if its good enough.
I think it's not Early Access as in "pay for the possibility of testing our game".
It's what Steam calls Advanced Access which means "pay for the possibility to play our "finished" game a few days before the rest of the mob".
The game is almost non-existent in the media, so in the minds of most people it doesn't exist. Unless it's a sleeper hit that gets spread by word of mouth - it will fail hard.
Why so quiet, though? Is this another veilguard and that's why they're keeping quiet about it? IMO they should have postponed the launch a few weeks at least due to KCD2, but now it's too late.

There's likely little confidence in the product from everyone involved, being the classic Gamepass & forget cannon fodder material and all. If I recall correctly it was supposed to be Skyrim-like at first but then its scope (and budget) got recalibrated to a semi-linear hack 'n slash-y console thing with UI designed by Fisher Price. There aren't many people left at Obsidian from the Pillars I/II era (which was quality in my book), still, I don't think this can reach Veilguard's level of obnoxiousness...or can it?
Osidian usually delivers with their RPG's, I wouldn't be to worried.
Depends on how much M$ wanted this to be more... accessible.
I'm not worried about that thb, Pillars of Eternity isn't an easy money IP. I doubt that Microsoft has had a lot of interest in this game. This seems like something Obsidian realy wanted to do.

Feels like Redfall all over again.
Up until recently it was expected to be 30fps on Series X which would be another travesty Microsoft could do without.
Thankfully it’s been confirmed the Series X will get a performance mode

Every single promotional material / video I saw prior to the launch of PoE 1 and especially PoE 2 had me waiting with anticipation and huge optimism.
Just take a look at how MANY devlogs they made for PoE 2:
But this time with Avowed?
Not that much...
But... being a fan of the series and world they created, I'd really like to love this game.
