I actually didn't realise, but the KCD pledge I gave in the original Kickstarter (2012) entitles me to a copy of the 2nd game
The sequel, by the way, that was supposed to arrive 9 months after the original KCD
Quote:
With the Duke reward tier you are going to receive: Act II (approx. 9 months after Act I)
That must have been a nice surprise, but, out of curiosity, how much was that pledge tier?
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

As far as Kickstarters go, that one was good value. The CE box is pretty big and a key for the 2nd game is great
Just seen much of the drama surrounding KCD2, I've really made a concerted effort to pull myself out of all the culture war BS the last couple of years. Both sides of it are absolutely batshit insane.
I saw one forum I used to frequent descend into a right wing version of ResetEra, where they'd make the exact same arguments just approached from the opposite direction.
If KCD2 turns out to be a fun RPG with good progression mechanics then I will be happy. Just as I didn't romance the druid in BG3, I won't be trying to bugger Hans in KCD2. A single black NPC espousing a very biased view of his homeland is also not really going to bother me.
I get that it's jarring to have poorly written virtue signaling shoved in your face, but I doubt that'll be very relevant in this situation. And, in all honesty, even if it does end up being super jarring in this game I'll likely still have fun with the underlying game.
I do definitely agree that Vavra's sudden switch to Henry being you is very odd considering Henry has always been a very defined character.
Releasing finished and feature/content-complete titles from Day 1 is for losers, the customer needs to feel the engagement coming from continuous support and the lack of a Roadmap can be cause for concern. They even call it Labor of Love these days!
Joking aside (but not really), unless the game will ship in a particularly miserable state I'll likely still play it for some time anyway, and then finish it down the line when it's got everything in place as per tradition.
@Steelone: Completely agree. As much as I like to ridicule the excesses of the [w word] fringe and the nearly endless cringe-worthy material generated by it, the opposite side has steadily turned into something as equally as laughable that 1:1 mirrors the flaws of its rival, making online discussions everywhere difficult to read or take seriously. Even our minuscule neck of the woods isn't immune to that, but then again it's the inevitable side effect of the freedom of screech Humpamendment
As for the gaedrama, as long as the atmosphere will remain (mostly) authentic/immersive without particularly jarring deviations or forced situations, and the writing stays interesting, I don't really have any problem with the idea of providing more options. With games I'm traditionally far more bothered by other aspects such as consolized elements, invasive interfaces and popamole features in general.
So they release the game unfished, sorry, in marketing terms: free DLC!.
And then they'll rip you off with season passes for a single player story driven game .
Well the first game didn't have any particularly good looking females so i don't expect the second one to have either Not really something that makes me ditch a game really.
Mack benchmarking the game with his precious 2080 .
What's wrong with that? Nobody bothers benchmarking older hardware these days, not everybody blows 1k on a GPU, phone, <insert vastly overpriced paperweight in 5 years here>. More reviewers should do it.

Agree that older hardware bechmarking is usefull, 20 series performance is unpredictable and often worse then you would expect.
But then don't call your video "PC frame rate test" and talk about the game performance in general terms, not for the specific aged hardware.
Likewise, mine is still there as well although it's hidden beneath several permafrosted layers of cynical grumpiness
It only manifests itself once in a while and this definitely is one of those rare occasions, as the first KCD is among my favourite games. The other potentially spark-worthy entry was STALKER 2 last year but in that case, the full patient bear mode was/is necessary.
