I feel like this was modded out within 24 hours of the release of the original. One of the more autistically stubborn design choices these guys made.

Because reloading a game after losing '45 minutes' of progress is SO MUCH FUN!

The anticipation is getting quite palpable, I'd almost forgotten how that felt :')

Thankfully it sounds like the game is the expanded Part II we wanted/needed, with few changes apart from the adjusted initial difficulty curve since Henry is no longer a peasant. Here's hoping there won't be too many bugs after the preview portion given to journos [hunger intensifies]

you'll likely have a mod within a day or something.

For KCD1 it was a day 1 mod i believe.

edit: ah, as W123 already mentioned.

I hope they're not as late with the modding tools this time and that we get a thriving modding community going. it's a bit lackluster for the first game, it's just small fixes basically.

You can save and quit at any point. This is just to "prevent" save scumming, since it adds the extra step of quitting the game. There's usually a mod for people who don't want it anyway, so it is a non-issue.

No man, this is to prevent people experimenting with the game, testing all the liberties the world and systems give you.

It may be a non-issue for you - if you can afford to lose so much bloody time with each save, but it GENERALLY is an issue, IF you want to test, try, see what happens 'if I do this or that'...

I understand that this decision is tied to immersion and taking responsibility for your 'Henry' actions, but this is a flarking game after all... Have TONS of feed-back and responsibilities that bite me in the ass in real life.

A quick-save wouldn't have hurt anyone.

Exactly. They could have put in a "non-hardcore" mode where quick-saving/loading is allowed. It isn't Darksouls for fucks sake. I just don't understand the mindset.

I love KCD, but I would not have finished the game without that quick-save mod. Having to resort to a mod for a basic quality of life feature isn't ideal (especially now with people getting incredibly creative about being able to sneak in malware almost anywhere).

Every frigging game in existence must have quicksave/quickload, period. If you personally are a masochist - you are more than welcome not to use it.

I can absolutely understand the dev for sticking to the vision that they have, that it's supposed to add tension, that you're not supposed to win every fight and more often than not you might need to flee.. It's how they think is the most fun and rewarding way to play it.

Us in the PC crowd are extremely used to spamming away on quick save and quick load... even if i think a lot of us realize it does take away from the experience a bit. it's super convenient, that's the only plus Razz do you really lose something by going back 40 mins, not really, i mean you could just do something else, new experiences, new loot... but i bet a lot of people feel "oh, now i have to repeat everything" which is kind of.. stupid. It's not really how the game is structured, for the most part.

There will surely be a mod to remove that saving requirement so its not a big issue anyways.

Agree. I don't have time for bullshit mechanics like limited saving in a open world rpg with features like random crashes, or with the gameplay it has. I never really got good in the first game. I felt i overgeared it and just smashed my way though, but i never truly understood and practiced the combat. With unlimited saving i can continue that practice.

I believe that they should make that optional - you want use schnapps only? Sure thing, go ahead.
You don't need that hassle? You just check that option and voila.
You could do that with mod so it is not like rocket science...
This way both sides would be happy. Me? I was makeing potions, so I was using alchemy, but I played with save mod.

Second. Just a mechanic to add playtime to the game. Add a hardcore mode for the people that want that. Limited saving is bullshit. Respect people's time.

Also that crafting vid: perhaps it's immersive to craft your first weapon, but after that it looks so tedious doing all that shit over and over.

maybe weapon parameters change depending on how good it's crafted. Durability, sharpness (dmg) etc. Which would be a incentive to use schnaps again so you don't savescum crafting. Maybe stated in the video's but i avoid videos Laughing

..."absolutely no spoilers" and he then goes on to spoil a big part of how the game starts and everything that happens. Thanks, Shillup, what a stand-up honest guy...

@Stormwolf he's been impressed since his first video about KCD2... i agree with him that it was a pretty cool test, that stuff just doesn't spawn back, she has no clothes the next day etc.
BUT i also think they're not idiots, they know which characters players might try to take advantage of or try "tricks" / messing with, this is probably such a character so they've taken extra care. Maybe it does translate to every single NPC, i have no idea of course.
