I was really sceptic about this movie after watching the trailer. I thought that it will be some TikTok style shit. Fortunetly it's pretty entertaining movie with some subtleties despite the tone. The first act could be shorter even if it has a plethora of boobies and asses.

Haha yep, I went in blind and was surprised by how amusingly goofy the general tone is, props to the henchmen and their many cykas (not to mention dat ̶a̶n̶u̶s̶ Ani ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)). I'd probably rate the movie a 7ish/10, it's a simple and rather mundane story but its delivery is competent, from the directing job to the hyperactive acting.

V for Vendetta: 8/10. Nice one.
Outland: 6 ashholes out of 10. Could've trimmed ~20 minutes out.
The Pianist: 8/10. Well acted and directed. The ending was dragged out a little too much I think, but other than that a nice one.
Ready Player One: 7/10. Not particularly brilliant at anything, but as it was basically a movie/game homage it was still fun to watch. Shining bit was really well copied.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: 7.5/10. A rollercoaster.
Predator: 7/10.
A Quiet Place: 7.5/10. Award for worst father of the year Laughing
A Quiet Place Part II: 7.5/10. Nice sequel.
A Quiet Place: Day One: 6.5/10.
Her: 8/10.
Moon: 7/10. Wished it wasn't so obvious from the start.
Pacific Rim: 7.5/10. Fun movie.
Pacific Rim: Uprising: 5/10. Almost all that was fun was no longer there.

Caddo Lake (2024) 5/10

What a mess ! Maybe I should have watched it twice to understand the non existing explanation. Maybe it's about time traveling or something unnatural in da lake.

The Adjustment Bureau: 6/10.
I Am Legend: 6/10 with the alt ending, the OG ending made even less sense.
Juror #2: 6.5/10. Eastwood can still direct well, but it's a medicore copy of 12 Angry Men.
Rope: 8.5/10. Nice.
Rear Window: 9/10. Very good movie.
Dial M for Murder: 9.5/10. Great one, took some time to get going but everything was set up well for the rest.

Small Things Like These: 8/10
Cillian Murphy is at his best when doing smaller, Irish movies. Really great. Made my blood boil too, my atheism got confirmed again Very Happy

The Map of Tiny Perfect Things: 7.5/10
Enjoyable Groundhog Day-kind of movie

Juror #2 7/10
Clint Eastwood's latest, he makes good films still (looking at you, Ridley Scott). Not anything spectacular, just a competently made courthouse drama. Reminded me a lot of 12 Angry Men, but with a twist.

Anora: 8/10
Such a rollercoaster of a movie. It starts like a modern Pretty Woman, went full slapstick in the middle, and the final scene broke my heart. Igor is the mvp.

Gladiator 2: 5/10
Dumb but somewhat entertaining.

Kill 4/10
Unusually good for being an indian movie, but even though it was entertaing - the constant similar fights got boring quite fast.
still, unusually good.

You gotta be year specific, there are some films with all kind of different remakes.

Legend (1985) American version with gorgeous Tangerine Dream soundtrack 6.5/10
There were some great visuals with awesome melodies, scriptwise it's dull.
I'd discovered I've never watched this particular version.

There’s three versions readily available on DVD / Blu-Ray commercially:

US cut - Tangerine Dream music, shortest

European cut - Jerry Goldsmith music, slightly longer

“Director’s Cut” - Jerry Goldsmith music. Longest cut. Bundled with the US cut as the “Ultimate Edition”.

Nosferatu (2024). Everyone i saw it with hated it. I liked the beginning.
Impossible to not think of the Laibach vocalist when you see Nosferatu, funnily enough both me and a friend mentioned it at the same time while watching it and we saw how Nosferatu looked lol.. wonder if he was the main inspiration for him, including the voice and accent, which is spot on.

Didn't care for most of the casting even if they're great on their own, like Daefoe? Why? It felt wasted i thought. Bill Skarsgård was good, but i wouldn't say super memorable. The movie was overall very, very boring with some nice stand-out scenes, beginning was great and involving, rest sucked. weak 6/10

How do you know we have the same taste?

If you want a rather standard take on Nosferatu, you probably can't go wrong. I do like the 70's version, but just like with this movie i mainly like the start Sad I wish there was more in the castle, and perhaps even more travelling there, those are the cool bits.

Nosferatu(2024)

It's like The VVitch + The Lighthouse but with their wings clipped.

The Northman was more successful in combining the oomph of these films.

Production wise - it's great. The lightning is as amazing as in his previous works. Really liked that was done to camera angles - the picture turned almost 2D, like an illustration in a book.

Liked it but expected more Very Happy

7 / 10

We really didn't like Northman either, my friend is a history teacher, loves history/fantasy and especially anything vikings, usually. We were both surprised how "meh" we thought it was.
Soooo i guess we are not really Robert Eggers fans hehe.

VVitch, super boring too, imo. Lighthouse was good, i'll give him that!
Production, acting, this is usually solid in his movies.

If one approaches The Northman as a visualization of myths / legends of Vikings it is fantastic, methinks. The best portray of savagery and animalism with such great production values to date.

Conan the Barbarian + The VVitch + The Lighthouse.

The Northman took the oomph of The VVitch - uneasiness, The Lighthouse - psychosis in its peek form.

But Nosferatu was more like The VVitch 0.7 + The Lighthouse 0.5, there wasn't anything more to it. And this is why I didn't like it as much.

Venom 1 5.5/10
Venom 2 5/10
Venom 3 6/10

This is such a waste. The premise for comedy and fun banter is 100% there but it's so poorly written and unfunny. Tom Hardy has the looks perhaps, but he's not a good actor or has the charisma and wit like someone like Ryan Reynolds, imo. He's another Keanu Reaves. But yeah, the main issue is probably more down to super poorly written. This could have been as big as Spider-man or Deadpool, though it would need a less stiff main character, one that can improvise.

I'm glad the third movie is a bit less about the GF and him being a total cuck, that did not make the main character any favors.

Tom Hardy used to be a really good actor but nowadays he doesn't give a fuck. He is clearly bored and half asses everything.

Anyway...

Nosferatu - 6/10
Like some wrote here first half was great the rest pretty meh. Some questionable fx. Also I hate Lily Depp that fucking greys alien spawn.

Inside Man: 7.5/10. Nicely filmed.
The Man Who Knew Too Much ('56): 8/10. A little James Bondish.
Payback (og cut): 6/10. Should've stopped after killing Val.
Sneakers: 7/10. A bit cheesy at times but good watch.
The Taking of Pelham One Two Three: 7.75/10. Funny characters.
Ocean's Eleven: 7.5/10. Still a fun watch Smile

Ocean's Twelve: 5/10. Watchable but that's about it.
The Hustler: 8/10.
The Color of Money: 7/10. Decent sequel, 20 or so years later.
Moana 2: 3/10. Bad story, bad songs, can we have some antagonists again? Just close this fucking studio already. Please, Disney, please.
The Wild Robot: 7.75/10. Not the animation quality of Disney/Pixar, but DreamWorks is slowly catching up. Some weaker bits but enjoyable and some quite some fun bits.
Inside Out 2: 7.5/10. Better than expected, preferred this over the original one. Well told.
