well since people only love to dunk on games or opinions here to clarify:
Games arent the same as they were in 2004 anymore. Ofc there are many games that are crap but there are good examples since the last half life game (2007 hl2 ep2). The industry and technology develops. Dx 12, rtx, non wonky tigther controls etc. and other things have to ve taken into consideration. If you sit on your ass for over 2 decades you get left behind. Prime example starfield. They rereleased skyrim all the time and look at their crap game now. Weird ass running animation, 99999 loading screens etc. It s a shadow of their former innovative and daring company. How many of the even original developers of hl1 or even 2 are still there?They d be have issues releasing a good let alone great game that meets all the expectations fans of the originals have.
p.s.: Hl alyx, glorified gimmick demo doesnt coint in my eyes. Also cs is actually dog shit.

They weren't really innovative in what you described, they regressed and were rewarded for it with crazy sales
Skyrim works the same as Morrowind in terms of 99999 loading screens, and things only got simpler for the numbskulls (combat mechanics, skill systems, dialogue etc). ImmOOO it went down hill with Oblivion and then they just coasted along trying to sell that same formula over and over, upping the graphics/animation each time, thinking people would keep lapping it up. They even gave us the marvellous concept of paid DLC tied to a minuscule amounts of content while they were at it.
10 million Starfield players in the first month, they still have no incentive to change anything unless they start caring about what's written about them
Valve probably feel that if they can't release a Half-Life game without some groundbreaking tech or feature, then it's going to be just another game. Which is why Alyx's VR mode is so good

That's exactly Valve stance on new games and I commend them for it. He also conveniently forgets they've recently sold en-mass a Linux based handheld to the dumbest possible consumer? same with the VR hardware and produced the best game for that platform within a year or two of the headses release.
Don't ruin Halflife with yearly horrible sequels of the same shit garbage like every other publisher.. its pretty much the only studio left you can actually get excited about... I'm also liking Capcoms games lately but that can always change.

hl alyx is more than just a tech demo, its a proper game, theres a clear difference between it and other vr "games"

So now all AAA games are shit but a gimmicky vr game is groundbreaking?
Yes they released a handheld and vr tech so according to that logic if they want to sell their hw they ll only release a game to sell hw for which you'd need that said hw == gimmick.
I doubt a hl 3 will ever happen. People were saying that devs were allowed to work on something if they want to but dont have to, but games like artifact still happened while counter strike only evovles incrementaly and still has almost the same issues. Source engine 2 released in 2015. So if you gonna wait for a hl3 with groundbreaking tech or innovation you ll be here for a while i guess.

The last time this man posted on Twitter was 2020 to congratulate Valve on HL: Alyx. His posts before that were either Alyx related or promoting a podcast he was on between Alyx promotion. Before that he had two posts from 2015. I don't think he logged in for the first time in 5 years just to say Happy New Year and tag Valve.

Yeah quite a bit different, but to do a voice good you have to practice a while to get into the role, this is likely a quick take + he's just a bit rusty with doing the voice.
It ranges from "that's totally him" to "this is another character completely."
