I think they said it would take them quite some time to get it done.
Will be released after Witcher IV last i heard since they use it's tech as a base for future games.

In some ways, Witcher 1 was superior for me.
Atmosphere, some memorable characters, camera, combat system, potion management, some of the wonky dialogue, and the cherry on top: thick, dark, depressing, fantasy medieval atmosphere... were all more to my liking.
^ Agree, plus the medieval-noir detective pulp theme especially the first few acts. Very unique game that blew me away. I remember before some patches it took 45s-1m to load tiny interior houses with nothing in them and i still played the shit out of it.
