How to spot a liberal
Quote:
I have been a follower of politics since the Carter administration. All these years have taught me that whether they are actors, businesswomen, or life-long politicians, I can spot liberal thinkers the moment they open their mouths. Since they rarely identify themselves as liberals, preferring monikers such as “progressive,” here are some dead giveaways.

Liberals consistently operate on a double-standard. They are exceedingly generous with other people’s money, but shelter their own. They ardently argue that everyone should be free to think whatever they want – unless you disagree with them. They proudly support religious tolerance, no matter how bizarre, unless that religion is Christianity.

They argue that requiring any type of ID for voting is racist, but these same politicians require ID to enter most any of their own social functions. They publicly vilify the “evil Wall Streeters” and then privately pander to them for campaign money. They are 100 percent behind protecting minorities and women unless the African-American, Latino, or female is from the other side of the political aisle. Then they are eerily silent.

Liberals rarely engage in legitimate rhetoric. They use single cases to make their points, while ignoring large amounts of data to the contrary. No amount of evidence that social programs aren’t working will ever be enough to persuade liberals that they are wrong.

When someone dares present them with evidence, instead of refuting arguments, liberals dismiss their opponents as sexist, racist, or they make fun of them. Think of Al Gore who – when questioned about his statement that polar bear populations are decreasing and that the population may, in fact, be stable or increasing – responded with “Nobody told the polar bears that. Hahaha.” These are the rhetorical skills of a middle schooler.

Liberals here are pro privatization and less government control. Basically the same old pro-capitalism neoliberal stance conservatives have had for decades minus the christianity. Btw. I don’t know many conservatives who actually give a fuck about christian values. They pretend to, but actually act like the complete opposite. They cosplay at christianism for the esthetics.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Am I a liberal by that? Why it constantly confuses me people say I am a staunch Democratic liberal here?

Sure I align with some of the points they have. But doesnt mean I nod and agree with the ones that are actually that in political conversations.
Much like I like One punch and Akira (only animes I like), doesn't mean I am an anime weeb.

Id say I am way more libertarian than liberal.
But (not to direct at anyone, but people in general) Most only know the two well (lib and consv) so have to pick one of the two boxes they know when assessing someone.

I don't fit most of it (besides addressing the points that can be argued because they require someone else's input to conclude.)
- I don't care for voting by ID, can take it or leave it.
- I don't support any religious tolerance, I think they all are 'helpful on micro scale, but very harmful on macro scale' fairytales. if I defend any its only from the other ones their hypocrisy of self-proclaimed divine superiority.
- I don't care about other people's money but am generous with my own.
- I am behind protecting everyone, regardless of whether they are women or minorities, or what color political shirt they wear.

Grated this whole article is a caricature of liberals. It's like saying all conservatives (US reference): have a confederate flag on their yard, walk around with open-carry guns hoping someone asks them why, want the country to be officially Christian, are ignorant of any facts but love to argue against any ideal thought of past 1950.

Are there ones like both those? yes. But its not how you spot one. Unless you are only trying to spot the most tropey ones.
