Terrifier 3.
One of the goriest movies i've seen. Macabre, chainsaw up the ass with very detailed gore etc. If i was 15-17 i would've been all over it, loved gory shit. In my 50's, not so much..
I have no idea why my almost-as-old friend still like this garbage.
Crazy how generic it seems to be too? Like his current GF had also watched this movie with her daughter (13) some days ago. My friend let all his sons (10-14) see it, like its a family or Christmas movie "oh look how's she's stabbing herself in the pussy with a glass shard, aren't we having fun kids?"
Freddy Krueger, Jason, Pinhead, way better written characters, yes, even Jason these characters are just whatever, they have no story to speak of, they're just there.
3/10 /I'll grab my cane on the way out.

Yeah, I don't know man, none of those characters are particularly well written. Having gone through the whole Nightmare on Elm Street series recently, it's incredible how bad most of them are, and not even fun bad. It's such a good concept, and they do so little with it. Its best movie is Freddy vs Jason, which says a lot about most of the rest...
Anyway, to be on topic : The Thing 1982 - 8.5/10 - Watched it again, still probably my favorite horror movie. I still can't tell what movie the critics were watching back then for it to be so poorly reviewed and flopping, but it is a fucking tragedy that it happened. I suppose not much has changed when it comes to critics being terrible at their job...

It came out around the same time as E.T., I think. And 1982 was a pretty amazing year for movies in general. One of my all time favorites. Saw it again too, a few weeks ago, and it holds up brilliantly.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

No. They are only written better in comparison to the characters in Terrifier, which says a lot.
The Thing is an all time favorite, must have seen at least 50 times since i was ~13.

Movies like The Thing and a few others from around that time absolutely shit and piss on every so-called "horror" movie made in the last 2 decades, at the very least.

Godzilla Minus One - 6/10 It's good for the budget. I thought the male lead was the worst actor. There's some good story-telling, but I felt the whole message was too forced and the end kind of killed it for me. Not going to spoil it, but yeah ... can't justify that for me. It was still entertaining, and if you're a Godzilla fan you'll likely enjoy it more then me.

Notorious ('46): 8/10. Well acted and told.
Vertigo: 8/10. Superb remaster, movie took a while to get everything going.
Point Break (the OG): 7/10. Decent watch, but could've been told in an hour. It really felt like it was struggling to fill the runtime.
PC: Yes. Console: No.

Carry-on: 7/10.
Surprisingly solid for a Netflix production. First part takes huge inspiration from the old movie Phone Booth, but it does get more actiony later on. It's simply a nice action-flick like they used to do "back then". No real criticism, apart from that it slightly overstays its welcome and could be 10-15 minutes shorter. Definitely worth watching.
The only thing I did not understand however was
Spoiler: | What exactly did he do in the luggage storage, when he "switched" the suitcases to a slightly larger one? I initially assumed he was going to give him the wrong one, but the bomb was still in it? The only thing where it mattered was that the bad buy couldn't fit it in the overhead section and it had to be put into the storage below. THAT was the plan?
Don't get me wrong, I have seen many movies with way more sillier plot points, but still, I am supposed to believe he managed to extract the whole contraption from the smaller suitcase, figure out the combination to the larger one (or use his TSA key which we never saw he has?) and put it in there within like 30 seconds? |

Burn After Reading: 6.5/10. A 9 is way too much. It started slow and the ending was disappointing (the movie wasn't that long so should've been shown rather than told).
Casablanca : 9/10. Great movie.
Heretic: 7/10. Would've been .5 higher if they've cut out the talk in the beginning.
The Running Man: 7.5/10. Far from a great movie, but very enjoyable.
PC: Yes. Console: No.

Spoiler: | He wanted to know which plane the terrorist would board. He switched the luggage because the other one was tagged to be stored in the check in luggage. That's how he was able to find the location with his GF. |
