Mostly Positive now on Steam, down from Very Positive.
Considering the issues and the severity of performance problems + bugs, it should be scored far lower
With Very Positive reviews, there's less incentive for them to fix the game. Giving it a positive review in this state works against these people, as the customers. It's so baffling.

I actually made my review negative because of the A.I. I like the game overall, but i also do want what was advertised. I requested a refund at 6h and explained how it takes forever when compiling shaders + the game is not what was advertised to me.
After playing it for a few hours, I think I've decided to leave the game for a while. Let them finish it off. I would say it's maybe 80% complete as it stands at the moment. There are lots of things that are broken or in need of extra work. I want a good experience not a slog.
Things I've noticed that need attention:
1) Key mapping broken. Can't assign keys to my liking. IE: (No laughing) I use RMB for forwards. Have done for 35 years. I can map the key fine but when I go to climb a ladder, the key mapping defaults to "W" to climb or "S" to descend. Flash light is none mappable. Melee is not mappable unless you edit the config file then that works. Can't move forwards with a bolt in my hand or knife. I have to get up close and personal with whatever object I'm looking at to interact with it. 1" too far away and I've to change from the knife, move closer, select the knife and I can interact with said object.
2) Extremely badly optimised. Needs a lot of work here. No A-Life 2.0 as promised. It's in the code as someone has been doing some digging and found reference to it but it's either turned off at present or it's badly trashed and needs an big overhaul. Basically it's not as originally advertised.
3) I can't currently run the game in native resolution for some odd reason. If I try, the graphics look broken, almost like they are massively over sharpened. Changing settings simply does not do anything. I can only run the game in TAA or DLSS which is not acceptable. If I use DLSS, the graphics look blurred. If I use TAA, they look a lot cleaner but still washed out.
4) The mod community are starting to have a play with the games settings. I have found one mod that helps with fps and removes most, if not all of the mouse lag. That's helping a lot but it's still not 100%.
5) Some of mutants in the game are like bullet sponges. I had three Bloodsuckers come at me at once out in the open. I'd only been in the game for twenty minutes. Barely had a pea shooter to kill them with ! Stamina is a joke. I run for 15m and I'm knackered making it hard to get anywhere, even worse when in a fire fight.
Anyway, this is just a few things I've noticed so hopefully they'll address them in the coming weeks/months.... Years.....
Dear lord, I've been struggling with the fucking bolt keymap since day one, and I too use RMB for moving forwards since Duke Nukem days. No matter what I do, even remaping every single key in-game solves this problem, it's completely bugged and fucking annoying.
Upscalers don't do shit for me, so I'm sticking with TSR at Ultra and 100% res since even performance feels the same across every other upscaling options, going with DLSS or FSR makes it a complete ugly mess

It's stupid one has to go to that far, but... guess the devs were too traumatized to think about that or key remapping is popular among the ruskies or something

I was avoinding this path but seems to be the only option so far
Decided to give up and try Frame Generation, at first I was surprised that it maintained a nice constant 60FPS at all scenarios and the input lag wasn't too annoying, but I'm getting even more stutters and to make things worse, the FPS randomly crawls to it's knees to a sub 10FPS experience

Yup, before uninstalling the game to wait for GSC to fix it I had already disabled frame generation as it felt worse with it enabled @60 fps (after applying cap) than without it at 40-45 fps.

When I've tried it at first there was a horrible input lag and tearing, and for about a year since I've got this card, I've never used FG for those reasons. What I did in the Nvidia Panel was to change these settings:
Low Latency = Ultra (Tried both On and Ultra, same stutter problems but way better mouse+kb response)
Vertical Sync = Fast
Frame Cap = 60FPS
FG Enabled ingame along with TSR @100% Res and Ultra Quality
Changing those settings made FG completely playable without screen tearing and the grotesque input lag, but sadly it increased the stutters for about 70% more
Men, drop the subject and turn on wait mode. 2025 will bring the definitive edition. If you still want to drive the car on 3 wheels, then good luck. Btw, look, even StEFaNson went into low profile mode.

I don't really care though, it's at least somewhat interesting to follow patches/fixes, but i could be without it too.
Try again but this time include an internet archive link showing a-life 2.0 in the features list and the current store link showing it absent and say that they deceived you

yeah i did say that, doesn't seem like they care. but it's fine, looking forward to try it again here and there and eventually do a playthough in like 3 years, the usual business
I see a lot of gamers and youtubers (mostly newcomers to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.) raving about the game, I wish I had their innocence so I could enjoy the game in its current state. As a veteran of the series, once you know what's missing you just can't unlearn it
I wasn't expecting much at all given its development circumstances, so far switching engines brought more troubles than it's worth imo. Esp looking at what GAMMA and such have squeezed out of the old one.

I'm really enjoying my time in the zone (with mods).
But with the current state of the game. I just can't give it a positive review on steam.
True. Game is pretty good underneath the issues, it manages to capture the previous game's atmosphere and feels like a true stalker game, plus some nice details such as "physical" lightnings during thunderstorms, the way anomalies interacts with the world/flora, gunplay is also very nice with neat gun animations too. But sadly in it's current state, it pretty much outweighs the positive things. All in all, it should be a pretty decent experience when(if) it gets some proper fixes

Hahahaha you and me both my friends always give me that look once they see that in every single game that I play lol
Game development, never change. When you see that they spent time implementing the guitar playing system, which clearly would have taken some time.. and then silly shit like having to shoot mutants with ten 12 gauge shots while their broken AI randomly disengages you and is walking away from you, and the game economy is broken because repairing guns that have attachments on them is prohibitively expensive... basic stuff.. not to mention the fact that AI is literally spawning 20 feet away from you.
Just crazy mismanagement and allocation of resources and stupid little pet projects that take precedence over the basics. It never fails to amaze me lol.
