Soooo, just launched the game:
Immediatly (even if my comp is an older one) I have TERRIBLE perf for something visually worse than Gamma BY FAR, which runs like a babe on my comp.
Had to drop the quality to something equal to PS2 levels to get anything decent.
The aiming makes me feel like I'm trying to piss in nature being drunk as a skunk.
Also, right off the bat, when I guess the game tries to teach you about anomalies (I'm talking less than a minute into the game), it spawn at first a solider. Shot the fucker and went to loot him, got killed by the anomaly I didn't even get was a thing.
Restarted: no soldier anymore.
Got outside a few seconds later, and some Zone creature runs to me, then takes a hard left and gets stuck between what looked like a tractor and a car.
Going full cheese, I start dumping ammo into the bitch, and when I reload, it twiches in some bizarre texture which apparently meant it was doing a 180, charging at me again, only to get stuck on god-knows-what a meter behind me after I dodged.
Killed it, and the fps went from what I guess was 30-40 to 5, without me moving the camera nor doing anything.
OK lads, I think this one needs... 2 more years in the oven, and a shitload of mods.
@MODS: please change the title to EARLY ALPHA ACCESS.

And yet people are rating this one as (Very) Positive on Steam.
That will show the developers not to release broken games, amirite?!

To be fair though I've seen this happening (although not as blatantly) in GAMMA too.
It's just that STALKER DNA I guess

Performance isn't great but the thing I find annoying the most is the visuals. Lighting and reflections are borked; there's a messy look to it that makes it difficult to see enemies.
It makes combat more annoying than challenging because none of it affects the AI's ability to laser you and throw grenades from a mile away like they're all former pro MLB pitchers.
Still, the atmosphere is good and guns feel really nice.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

They're riding the sympathy-for-Ukraine wave (and they shouldn't be). I see no problem with the game currently being in this state (it's justified) or them charging those prices for a pre-order. What is not justified is releasing it now.
If I hadn't got the Ultimate edition for 25 bucks last year (knowing and accepting that I probably would be waiting for several years before a release) today I would be trying the Francis Drake version for a few laughs and facepalms and surely uninstalling it after 3-4 hours tops.
Now we'll have to see how dedicated they are fixing the game post-launch.

FYI... There's a couple of interesting mods on GAMMA's oficial Discord like nerfed healing and food items, sprint adjustments and even some NPC or A-Life WIP mods, just head to the #stalker2-modding sub-channel and there are some useful stuff posted there
After trying several of the "optimized tweaks" on nexus (thanks for the tip again @harry_theone), this is the one that I've found that works better on my setup so far, as most of them I've found worse performance and general resource usage, and bugs like invisible anomalies

This is great news, 1 day later and such small things already steer it in a better direction

No doubt. I'd bet my life savings that the developers were crying when they were told it had to make a 2024 release in this state.

The visuals are a letdown but i'm not surprised cause at heart this is a console game. The UI, lighting, muddy foliage and textures, it all screams console.
For a 2024 game indoors look terrible imo, lowres assets and flat lighting everywhere, it's extremely disappointing.

I won't touch this game until the big issues have been fixed and deconsoleified. 2026?

At least it seems to be highly moddable which means we'll see a ton of mods coming up that will fix a lot of the issues with UI, game scripting (A-life) etc. etc.

Interesting discussion about A-life or rather the lack of it. The more i see of this the more i'm convinced it actually does not exist as we know it.
Rather than an organic world we get a bubble in which enemies spawn, obviously that bubble is not working properly as enemies can spawn right in front of you but if this is their modern take on A-life which it appears to be then rip stalker.

I'm glad it's selling, glad it has positive reviews because that makes it more likely that we will see it getting support, i hope. A failed release, a release with mostly negative reviews is easier to abandon, i would think.

yeah, that's pretty rotten. but it's also rather typical shit. it's not like Bethesda hasn't done this numerous times, for example, or CDPR using footage of the better looking engine of Witcher 3 up until days before release.
Doesn't excuse it though.
