the oldfags hyped it up to oblivion, hold it up as some gold standard, now i remember why i couldnt finish the old games, and some say this is their most polished game yet
performance is definetly shit (on the starting area so far), if I'm standing still the game maintains a constant 60FPS but simply moving the mouse, even slightly, there's random framerate drops, what the hell
game is ok'ish tho, mouselook feels pretty odd as other people stated, but not "that" much in my case atleast...
by the way, is there any guide for graphics settings/comparisons out on there yet?
apparently mouse acceleration is on by default. to fix this go to %appdata%/local/stalker2/saved/config/input.ini and copy paste this into the document:
Gave it a whirl and it's okay but it just doesn't grab me. Overall it's rather generic and considering enemies just spawn out of nowhere it doesn't feel organic at all.
The absence of any real A-life is the most glaring omission so hopefully with time modders can sort this stuff out, first thing they need to get rid of is the horrendous radiation effect.
It's a decent platform to build upon but needs alot of work. As it stands it's all rather generic, like a watered down version of stalker, at least for me.
@4treyu and @harry_theone thanks a bunch folks will take a look at it in the next hour.
On a side note, I definitely expected my R5 3600 + 16GB RAM + 3070TI would take quite a hit, but honestly I'm quite surprised on how it performs, atleast on 1080p... so if any of you folks out there with a similar config and are wondering about how the game performs, it *should* be able to handle (on the starting area, played for an hour so far).
I personally think that despite performance being awful for now, I think there's still a chance for the devs to do their work and turn it in to a better experience across the board, but since it's UE5 I would think the margin for performance gains is pretty tight for this particular engine, good thing to have the good ol' ini's to make some tweaks, reminds me of the old days when this was a thing for some games
might end up moving from gamepass and buying it if the devs don't fuck up
EDIT: Graphics settings are on Epic, just for giggles (yes I'm a mad man)
You're welcome, couldn't test many of it myself because the download took ages yesterday, but also be sure to try the Nexus optimization mod, helped smooth things out for sure if you have hitches.
Enemies spawning in right near you, even after clearing out the area, inconsistencies with what groups are where in locations, cone of view gets you even behind forest brush, city rubble, and in the dark? AI doesn't flank or work together to get at you. They barely take cover. No stealth system, the whole enemy squad knows exactly where your at after they easily detect you.
• graphics are muddy / a mess
• vegetation is even a bigger mess (I put it on lowest setting to make sense of it)
• lighting is truly broken
• performance is shite
• stealth is sometimes not working
• mouse feels like crap / floaty
• FOV is shite (no proper scaling for ultrawide)
• game is crashing
• there's a 'bit' too much loot (have almost 20 med packs wtf!)
• it's hard to see enemies (esp, during the night, while they seem to have infrared vision and see you way before you see them)
• no correct speed for walking while aiming (you start to walk faster when you aim down sights)
• en voices are bad
But...
The atmosphere, man... the ATMOSPHERE(!) is still there! Hidden behind all this shite...
Game will probably be fixed. In some Eurojank way of being fixed, of course, but... I believe it's worth (will be worth) playing if you liked previous Stalker games.

Regarding A-Life 2.0:
Nice to see that they've atleast ackknowledged it, but since I haven't got too far on the game, didn't really had to chance to stumble upon this issue
Noticed that the keyboard mapping from climbing on stairs doesn't go along with the movement controls if you modified WASD for example
The lack of a proper A-Life system takes away a big chunk of what makes STALKER so immersive and unique in the first place, I hope there will be a way (official or not) to eventually implement or restore it among the other omissions/faults because otherwise, they might as well rename the game to Far Cry: Ukraine. The surprise motherfucker insta-spamming from the videos reminded me of Mechwarrior 5 (also UE-powered), where enemies would get magically and visibly teleported out of nowhere as soon as you turned around
So yeah, at this point I'll just enable the patient bear mode like with every other [Early Access] in disguise release, genuinely hoping it won't be a lost cause like Starfail'd was/is.
The mouse indeed feels extremely janky but im sure they'll get that fixed. I havent experienced any stutters so far. It runs pretty good on 120+ fps averagely @ 4k.

Don't mention it, mate
About performance, I suggest you wait until you get to a place named Zalissya, which would make for a better benchmark with lots of houses/buildings and people. I had to do quite a bit of tweaking there but fortunately I managed to get it performing fairly well and looking pretty (and not blurry/muddy at all) with all settings set to at least High, though I had to enable both DLSS (Quality mode) and Frame Generation.
Still, I agree with the majority that the game shouldn't have been released in the current state. I personally wouldn't have minded to wait an additional year. Regardless of that, kudos to GSC for their great effort, taking into account their circumstances.

7800x3d,4070ti,32gb and all setting on epic. Aprrox 130fps with dlss quality and fg. Hiccups there and there and only at talkative cutscenes some 60 fps. Looks partially good, partially bad. Cant remenber last stalker experience, but at beginning, this feels like tunnel run.. go there and there, no freeroaming just yet. Played just couple of hours, but im liking this...havent encountered any gamebreaking bugs yet...using ukrainian voices with eng subtitles...thinking that makes immersion better. Patches are welcome, but my mouse is working and everything sofar is great...

Thanks again for the tip I'm already expecting my setup to crawl once I get to denser areas
Managed to get past the starting area, dropped shadows and foliage to high and got back more frames thankfuly + DLSS still sitting at Quality preset, didn't notice any major quality difference, but shadows are quite noticeble, I'm yet to try the aforementioned mods tho...
