it's like always, some parts are better, some parts far worse. They never get these things right, because to get it right they have to spend actual time with it, tweak it for each location. They're not interested in that, they want to do a filter or shader and apply it over everything - done. 1h of work maybe.

I think there are plenty shown in the videos where it just doesn't look great.
The cyan color used is completely unnatural and not something that exists in real life unless perhaps you wear some type of glasses with a filter on them that makes it look like that.

The art style in the old GTA games never went for 'realism'.
Everyone remembers odd / fantasy / surrealistic colors in the skies (lighting).
At the time those games looked pretty much as one would expect.
As the series evolved it's clear that the intention is realism more than fantasy. If you want the total "authentic experience", you know what you can play? The original games.
If someone thinks the cyan sky example looks good i'm not sure what the hell you're on. The other image in the comparison looks good though, a good improvement over the previous version. That's what i meant with it's never really an improvement overall, some is better, some is just far worse.
Overall, this isn't something a reshade couldn't have fixed, well, maybe apart from the fog. Super lazy ""improvement"".
If this is what you wanted, good for you. All i've seen so far on other forums is laughter and ridicule, and i tend to agree.

he actualy thinks the game in the broken state looked better u cant make this shit up
Nonsense. It was broken before, now it's still broken. Even above posted comparison video shows that night scenes are now worse compared to previous patch. They fixed lighting in certain instances, but made it worse in others.
Best way to play both games are still the old versions. I really don't know why most people haven't realised that. Remarkably, old games are still completely fine on modern hardware and os'es. Even though engines are hack jobs in both cases, a major reason why this remaster was probably such a problem job. You can mod Vice City to 60 fps, with practically no drawbacks with mods like Vanilla Vice, and you don't even need that for San Andreas. You get proper, uncut, radios, graphics that looks fantastic in 4k resolutions, while modern hardware offers flawless frametimes. There are still some bugs present, but those were always present, even way back. At least you're free of purple tint that was never present.
I replayed VC a few months back that way, and it was a blast.
they restored it to the original vision, it doesn't fix all the issues with the demaster but it sure as shit brings back the atmosphere people who enjoyed the original wanted. nobody wants a realistic 3/vc/san andreas - people want the distinct atmosphere they remember from when they were younger.
i agree you can play the originals if you want to but this is more convenient and just because the originals are there doesn't mean the remaster should be devoid of its og identity. people who play san andreas for the first time with this remaster should be able to enjoy the original feel of it.

I played GTA SA like 8-10 years ago, fully modded (my own grass mod + many, many other mods), it looked pretty great and played good to with cool additions.
You've been able to play it with these graphics for like a decade:
These remasters are a joke in comparison. The weather mods for GTA SA were great and improved the skies a lot + had more types of weathers. There are AI mods that makes the AI more fun in fights + makes NPC's do more stuff + city and forests were remade a lot too.
Even if i had never played these games i'd be sure to instead play them fully modded, you'll just have way more fun i think.

but this isn't the experience most people are looking for, people just want an accessible more upscaled version of the OG experience. these realism mods are ugly as sin to some people and destroy the original vision/artistic direction but each to their own
its like complaining about some artsy movie shot on film with film grain to why it isnt shot on digital thats wat all those realism mods ever do, make every game souless
and that san andreas look isnt fantasy lol.....its trying to capture the 90s feel, the orange tint los angeles specific, vc has its neon lights etc.

I adore grain. Funny thing about it, with dvd's and vhs tapes, storage options were so limited that video had to be compressed substantially. Everything was still shot exclusively on film at that time, it was compression that removed most of the grain. After that, most people saw the movies even further compressed when dvd's were ripped to some 2x 700mb with early codecs, and that took care of any grain that was left.
