"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
Really looking forward to this. It's been described as Cronenbergian body horror and is apparently very gruesome. It also received a ~10 min standing ovation at Cannes.
Just came back from the cinema. What a fucking trip.
I gave it 10/10 but a lot of people will give it a 0/10. My mind was blown by the end how this got into major distribution. Lol I can't even. Kudos to the person brave enough.
Prepare for young tits, saggy tits, butts, crotches, easy wanks, pretty hard wanks, some fucking disturbing close ups. It brought tear into my eye. One 78 year old jew would be proud of this movie, that it avenged all the movies he made or produced that are cult now but never were in major cinemas. Everyone was great in it.
Also best fucking date movie ever.

9/10. I didn't know anything about the movie so it likely made it even better. high budget body horror in 2024, and it didn't suck, what universe is this??
oh, i'm still chuckling from time to time, it's been like 30 mins since it ended
how is it out with such good quality already.. isn't this just going up in theatres? not complaining though
fucking disgusting movie, first half was alright some light cronenberg with benny benassi score but by the end went too fucking nasty
Nastiness was fine, man up bro. The problem with the ending was how unfathomably unrealistic it was with all that blood spray. While the rest isnt particularly realiatic either, this was comically out of place
If there was a message or point to i and my colleague certainly didnt get ir.
not sure i could complain about the blood spray when the whole concept is of course made up, i guess you just have to go with it, at that stage it's not a normal body or human. overall it's has a very comedic and over-the-top tone to it.
What's even more unrealistic is that anyone would watch a show like that, i mean it wouldn't go viral to that degree i liked its very playful and not-so- serious tone, it never came of as pretentious or as some sort of message, even if i'm sure some people would love to read into it like that.
Brilliant, over-the-top movie. By far Demi's best role, but the whole cast was great. I noticed lots of influences from other great movies, like Requiem For a Dream, 2001, The Shining, Black Swan, The Thing, Carrie (obviously )
I think the message couldn't be more obvious; love thyself
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
sure, love yourself as you are, or just a message about how unnatural procedures will ultimately lead to your downfall if you go into the extremes..
could also be seen as some unhealthy mother/daughter relations where each is feeding of the other to fulfill a dream. there's probably more and deeper stuff if you read into it but it's not like some movies where they're super on-the-nose about it or trying to lecture you.
I don't look for any deep meaning in it. It jumped the shark in the last act and I treat it as a Troma movie. It's on par with Toxic Avenger or Poultrygeist.

The final act was sheer madness, and I applaud the creators for it not everything needs a deeper meaning, fully agree. Wouldn't say it jumped the shark, per se, either. Once they mentioned the new year event, I kinda had a feeling (and hope ) where it would go.

While not far of, i believe the message is "unrealistic expected beauty standards for women" It's a feminist movie, but it didn't hit us on the head with it. I just saw a dumbass woman who can't blame anyone but her dumbass self.
Yeah, I think both are valid; unrealistic beauty standards that make even beautiful women hate themselves.
The scene with Demi getting ready for her date was heartbreaking.
