Tencent and Assassin's Creed maker Ubisoft are considering a buyout.
That's according to a new report from Bloomberg, which noted the video game developer had lost more than half its market value over the year.
"The Chinese tech company and Guillemot Brothers Ltd have been speaking with advisers to help explore ways to stabilise Ubisoft and bolster its value," Bloomberg's report reads.
Those familiar with the situation said one possibility currently being discussed is "teaming up to take the company private".
Word of a buyout follows an open letter from an Ubisoft investor to the company last month, which expressed their "deep dissatisfaction" with its performance and strategic direction. The investor urged the board to consider taking the company private, describing Ubisoft as "a great company" that is "deeply undervalued" due to mismanagement from the Guillemot family and Tencent.
In 2022, it was revealed Tencent had a 49.9 percent stake in Guillemot Bros. Separately, at the end of April, Tencent owned 9.2 percent of Ubisoft's net voting rights.
Bloomberg noted any buyout considerations are still in the early stages. It is not certain these discussions will ultimately lead to a transaction taking place, with Tencent and the Guillemot family also said to be looking into other options at this time.
Ubisoft has declined to comment on today's report.

Tbh my theory with certain companies is that the ceos do the worst decisions possible so their stock value drops so they can buy them cheap at the lowest point and resell them when they personally implement things to get more profit again. Why else would they abandon steam again while they are obviously shitting the bed? And if someone fires the ceo for that they ll probably have a golden parachute anyways. What would stop them from doing it?

Very astute Mr lametta... or should I say Mr lametta Guillemott?! Now, you better include me in the deal unless you want me to rat you out to the SEC

Sure. Tencent will send one of their sold..agents to your house no problem.
I've got my hands on PS5 copy of Immortal Fenyx Rising. Played maybe 4h so far but this game is quite good. But had to disable Wi-Fi on my PS5 as otherwise it forces you to login to Ubi system and won't allow to start the game . What a dumbass approach to require logging in for a single player game... ohh wait Sony is doing that too on PC
I hope there will be some changes at Ubi, but I don't hold my breath. And if they fail... well, maybe it will be for the better.
Just saw the title. Is it truly a meltdown if the director says haters are not decent people?
It's not just any director, but the monetazation director of ubisoft.
You can't make this shit up.
1.Make games 70 dollars/EUR and claim it's AAAA.
2.110 dollars with dlcs.
3.Shove your political bs in the game and double/tripple/quadruple down on it (Ass creed Shadows: e.g. "expert who falsefied historical documents and used his own papers as evidence.", putting the half tori gate into promotional materal even though it's a sad reminder of the atom bomb; putting a stone instrumet into the game that belongs to the chinese culture but ubi not knowing, putting hip hop beats in the battles of the black character etc. all in the name of inclusivity.
4.ubi having sexual harrasment allegatios in the past.
5.crying about low sales numbers of their games even though they wont release on the biggest platform on pc.
I could go on and on but you cant make this shit up.
WHY wouldn't i celebrate if this company goes down.
Devs/publisher who lost touch.

What's a "hater" do you think? It's anyone with any kind of criticism. "Toxic", "hater", and the classic "racist", "nazi", "bigot". Very rarely do they depict or adress the reality, it's just words used when people haven't got a good argument.
Also it's funny how they always say "they're just a small minority". Ok, so why does a big shot like you even care of what this super small minority has to say, why would you even need to adress something so miniscule.

I believe its the sexual harassment that has led to this nasty change in ubisoft games. I bet the activists have a big upper hand in game development there.

They're so full of shit.
I agree. Though i think it's just bullshit since with all the shit that has been going on in Ubisoft, they are definitely not this type of people. Unless they're like jail prisoners who found god or something, which i sincerely doubt
Ubisoft is apparently facing a class action lawsuit for selling user data to Meta without users consent LINK
Wait to see HOW MUCH DATA Epic has sold to third-parties.
Kinda grey when it comes to Epic though. You can tick when buying something whether they will share your personal information with companies. It's pretty disgusting though since what fucking possible benefit would i have from that? But still, it's not hidden and i'ts in plain text.
Well i have little with any of those to do so i fuse them together mentally. Admittedly i do have the launcher and keep grabbing freebies, but i can't say i've played anything yet
Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, a competitive NFT-based RPG recently released by Ubisoft, has been impacted by a single player's game-breaking exploit. The user in question is making it impossible for others to play the game, with many quickly calling upon Ubisoft for assistance.
In late October, Ubisoft quietly released Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, a free-to-play blockchain-based RPG. Players were immediately perplexed by the game's release, as interest in NFTs has become negligible over the past few years and Ubisoft's previous attempts to utilize non-fungible tokens in its games went poorly. Not long after the title's sudden drop on PC, Champions Tactics is already facing a major issue, with many players claiming that it's currently impossible to play the game at all.
According to a Twitter post made by user Jauwnio, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles has been unplayable since November 1 due to the actions of a single player. This malicious user has discovered an exploit in the turn-based RPG, allowing them to automatically win every battle before a match even begins. Curiously, the user, who appears as either Schilleri11 or Paulstar111 in Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, seems to be the only person players are matched with. The mysterious user currently sits at the top of the game's rankings with over 56,000 matches played to date.
Players have flocked to the game's Discord server to voice their frustrations and concerns over the state of the new Web3 RPG, with many expressing disappointment in Ubisoft for allowing a single player to ruin the title for everyone so soon after the title's launch. On November 2, a moderator stated that the development team was aware of the issue and had banned Paulstar111 in an effort to remedy the issue as quickly as possible, with a concrete fix for the exploit coming soon. Unfortunately, some players claim that they are still being matched with the malevolent user.
Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles is a fully PvP title without a campaign or PvE mode, meaning that the actions of this single player have brought the game to a standstill. Ubisoft has faced tremendous difficulties over the past few months, with the studio's free-to-play shooter XDefiant rumored to be shutting down and Star Wars Outlaws failing to meet sales expectations despite initial hype. Additionally, Assassin's Creed Shadows was delayed from November 2024 to February 2025, with fans of the franchise eager to see if the upcoming title can renew the community's faith in the struggling studio.
Another banger, no one's stopping the ubishit train!

They are, and they did the whole wheel-chair operator before, so I don't doubt their retardation, but is this really a woke thing, or are they trying to maintain the hitbox in line with other characters? Haven't played Rainbow six, but I'd imagine you want consistent hitboxes, unless you want everyone to play the same thing/have unfair advantages.
