I'm tired of this shit, we had over 20 days above 30°C so far this year, humid like the jungle.
Can't breathe, can't work, can't sleep and the dogs are suffering.
I am getting a Multi-Split for the next year and will install the fucking thing myself!

Spent 2 days reading everything about AC and already ordered two Daikin Perfera FTXM25A/FTXM35A indoor units, which are excellent (SEER 9.47 and tons of extras) and I got a good price.
Now I'm looking to get the exterior inverter. I'm already decided on the Daikin 3MXM52 for up to 3 indoor units.
I heard the inverters are way cheaper in the Mediterranian, just wanted to ask if any of you guys from ES/PT/IT/HR know of any shop that has good prices? Confused

I found this one in Portugal for €1228:
https://www.keroclima.pt/epages/960844166.sf/en_GB/?ViewObjectPath=%2FShops%2F960844166%2FProducts%2F1341

But they don't give clear shipping costs for other EU countries. I'm looking for sub €1300 total.

For PT, try searching for what you want here:
https://www.kuantokusta.pt/
For your AC:
https://www.kuantokusta.pt/p/1917403/daikin-multi-split-mxm-mn-3mxm52m-r-32

The click each individual link for the store pages. Obviously not all stores appear, the initial store you mentioned is not on there but thems the breaks.
Besides that, try searching on google/whatever for PT results only.
Try these mens:
https://www.radiopopular.pt/
https://www.soarcondicionado.com/
https://www.euronics.pt/
https://www.castroelectronica.pt/
https://airtouch.pt/

Thanks for the links!
Actually found a unit at soarcondicionado.com:
https://www.soarcondicionado.com/3mxm52a9-daikin-en

First it was €1400, then I did shipping estimation and it dropped to €1108??
For shipping costs it just says "por consulta" now
Site also has coupon codes apparently but I couldn't find any.
Gonna do some further investigations here

Edit: ok it was because it removed the taxes. contacted them for a shipping/tax estimation anyway. couldn't find any coupons

Oh it'll be back...August still has some days left and then next year and the year after that etc.
This was one of the worst heatwaves, I had to drive into the city 2 days ago and the pavement was so hot. Hellscape made of asphalt and concrete.

Meanwhile the internal units arrived:

I take it the majority of Europe doesn't have homes with full sized centralized-AC installed?

Something like this...

[/img]

One would summarily die here in the months of May through October without one of these. It used to be (growing up) that by October we had nice fall temperatures. Not anymore...

Edit - don't know why img tag isn't working. Evil or Very Mad

I can't speak for all of Europe but I've never been to a house/apartment with centralized AC. People buy fans or mobile AC units. Granted, I live in the south west of Sweden and we rarely have 30+ degrees here (mostly 20-26 degrees) during summer. My biggest problem is the combination of heat and humidity. That makes me so happy that I do have an AC.

These are heatpumps, you can also use them to let cool water flow through the underfloor heating systems. It works well I hear but they don't remove humidity from the air.
Only a few households have floor heating systems so it's not an option for most.

You're right. Meant to post a picture of AC, Google images (of course) showed heat pump instead. Looks similar enough to where I didn't catch it. Changed it now, lol.

That's a nice system right there! In most of Europe even the newest buildings don't have any kind of AC, no one adds centralised AC lol. And if they have regular heatpumps they're not being used for cooling. Also tenants are often not allowed to install split systems at all.
Going to be a rude awakening. Laughing

Pretty much figured this was the case, wasn't sure though.

I take it the above situation is mainly because of both spacing (most buildings are built very close together) and age of the buildings (lots of old buildings in Europe built before central AC was a thing, so not much thought given to ducting etc?)

Yea, the whole rising global temperature thing is going to suck for you guys - better start drafting changes in building codes to allow for them.

No, its the same with most newly constructed apartments. Zero forethought. They get long distance heating only, no central AC and you have to ask everyone for permission to mount split AC. All people are left with are the shitty mobile units.

I know. Sad It's not August only but the whole September can still bring us nasty heatwaves. F*king Summer. I never liked it since childhood. I'm now a prisoner in my own house and a slave to AC. The beaches are 15-16 minutes ride from my place but I don't give a rats ass. I don't care about girls in bikiniz, topless girls, girls in thongs all over the place, tits wide open etc. I just want my AC ! It's my dope. Very Happy

Edit: aaaand I'm a prisoner of ze Humps as well. Mad

Centralized AC has gotten quite popular here esp in businesses and fancy neighborhoods. Most of EU from what I hear is very anti AC but their heat is shits & giggles compared to anyone in the global sunbelt. But recently they've been feeling the change in climate and the pressure to get heat pumps which can fit in apartment buildings but can only heat one room or a small apartment.

I think last year or so I heard of 45°C in fucking CANADA. If that is not a sign idk what is.

I'd say the same with 29. It's not so much the temperature as the shock of having cold and sour autumn days and then suddenly summer temps
