Who preorders these games anymore? Can just play them on sub service for 6 or 7 times cheaper
That's exactly why they price them the way they do, with the ultimate editions costing $120+ - they WANT people to opt for the subscription service, which the vast majority inevitably don't cancel, and the publisher gets, basically, free money.
Not to mention they can yank a game off the subscription service (I'm fucking looking at YOU Gamepass) whenever they want, forcing you to go out and pay them even more money to purchase it anyway if you want to play it again.
Obviously I'm referring to the clueless plebs, not really this community, but that's the vast majority of "gamers".
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Spot on.
Getting people to sub to their service is the goal. Just look at microsoft for example, they are willing to sacrifice COD sales revenue just to push people to gamepass.
The big players are focused on subscription services and games are specifically priced in order to push people towards them.
I wonder if this game is what will finally make EA take Biowere behind the woodshed.
Probably - but at this point, as sad as it is to say, it would be for the best.
It's kind of like in the zombie movies when the main protagonist finds his love of twenty years huddled in a corner whimpering nonsense, only for her to turn around with half her face missing and one eyeball dangling loose - that's the state Bioware has been in for quite some time.
We'll always have those precious memories of the early years, but that's all that's left. Best to just bring the boot down and get it over with - it's the least they deserve.

Read an article from the lead or some other wanker on this project.
Bringing up Baldur's Gate a lot and how they made them unintentionally character driven and how they want to do it intentionally with this one...
Meanwhile me thinking: Shut the fuck up, you haven't even worked on those games and you're just trying to ride on BG3 success.
That alone tells me this is probably going to be a crappy triple aids game we're used of these days. Fuckers are hyping with other games they weren't apart of.
Only plus out of all of this is we get to hear a bit more of Claudia Black as Morrigan. I'll take what I can get I suppose.

Hopefully it'll fail and the next one goes the route of BGIII. I would love another DA game with DAO/BGIII-like mechanics (without turn based)
The recent trend of characters in these medieval worlds being dressed to the nines, looking fabulous and all with romance options should die too. When combat and interactions are as deep as a puddle, then to me it shows what the priority is.

If this fails then we will have no more Bioware. EA will shut it down because we have been getting only stinkers from them.
next-gen-superduper-effects right there...generally no clipping...I get that it might be a small thing but it really bothers me, especially in 2025 ffs. Then again having a tumor of a face/head is more important I guess.
