Does it now look less cartoonish and more... "realistic"?

it's supposed to look like the cover of a 60's or so pulp sci-fi book, a bit cheesy.

started playing it in VR instead, much nicer Smile just need to relearn the controlls...

performance seems really great btw, i got 165 FPS with no issues on Ultra (everything).. VR is probably much lower, haven't checked.

So whats this game about nowadays? It was supposed to be a journey to a point in the universe if i don't recall wrong, but now with 500 million big updates i'm not really sure what the deal is.

I bet lots of it is fun, but i do NOT expect cohesion. Just a lot of different things all around

you fuck around and find out in a big-ass universe Very Happy

tons of shit you can do, missions (online, off-line, 1-time daily missions online), build a base, take over gigantic freighters (and probably more, i have no idea, i just have 2 small ships).

I found a good ship but in terrible condition, so for me its been a journey to fix it, finding materials, finding things to do to earn cash to fix it. There's a shit ton of different upgrades to get for your exosuit, for the ship(s), for the tool/weapon.. unlike Starfield there's also vehicles you can get to traverse the planets, even submersible ones. I've never gotten so far that i've tried those, but that will be great when i get there.

The game does have lots and lots of traversal, on foot / with the jetpack, through space and even through the ground since unlike most games you can manipulate the terrarian. Really puts starfield to shame when you think of all the stuff this game does.

The Economy seems well balanced too, very different from when i played years ago, it was easier to get rich then from what i remember.

Space Combat is great in its simplicity. Fighting animals or sentinels on the ground is pretty meh, i still think its the worst part of the game.

I jumped back in yesterday and was blown away to be honest. Ok it took 8 years to get to this point but it’s truly impressive how they’ve transformed the game since 2016. And they’ve still not asked for single penny more after the initial purchase!

Here's a mod to fix the stutter you get when you leave a planet and go into space
https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/2812

quite irritating imo, especially if you're in combat.

I do wish they'd do stuff people have asked for since release basically, but no, let's add stuff no one asked for that will add to the list of things we must also work indefinitely on (bugs, balance, performance etc)

Every little addition should imo, be really well thought out because of this, you're not just doing it once, you're doing something that you will come back to again and again to fix bugs for, performance issues etc.

Asmongold's theory is that since they are working on an mmo that these added features are prototypes for that game and no man's sky players are free beta testers of the features.

It's not even a theory, it has actually been said by HelloGames themselves that they are putting features that are coming to Light No Fire to No Man's Sky as well and testing those systems before Light No Fire comes out.

It's great to see these graphical updates but again, the game needs so more exciting moments with harder humanoid enemies on the planets, it would add so much imo...

Would love if i was hunted by some bounty hunter/s (being able to land and hunt you on foot) for example, even assassins creed had those Razz

@vurt
Same for me
It has all the elements of a game I would love. And spent a LOT of time in it. But each update for years adds nothing new to make me want to reinstall it. It all feels "Update 4.1 (or whatever): We have added new textures, and animals can now gen with horns. Also planets now can be new ones that are desert with deep oceans that can have plants with growing spikes.

Ok..new stuff to look at for an hour. What else?

The guy they have who record these promo videos / picks out what to show, he/she should likely get a raise. The cherry picking is really well done, the videos looks incredible and always makes me want to get back in.
Then i get back in and i remember, oh right, it doesn't really look like in their cherry picked videos, at least not to 95%...

This is done for many games (obviously you want to try to show the best parts), but this is god tier.
