Haven't watch many videos for longer than a few minutes and am very intrigued, but all the videos show the character moving while firing projectiles whether they be spells or arrows-does this mean the game is now intended to be played with wasd or controller?
Seems like it, but at least it looks like clicking might still be better for melee. Either way, the more I see of the game, the less I like it. I mean, it's not even fair to say that I guess, since it looks like a good game by itself. It's just too much of a departure from PoE, and I don't see myself playing what I've seen so far for a long time. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but it feels like builds are too forced down a certain path, where they manufacture synergies and this will likely lower build variety.
Also just the whole combo-ing of spells to clear shit, it's just eh... I don't know. I don't care to be "challenged" by trash mobs. I like that PoE has the clear map gameplay and then the challenge is in the end game bosses. This whole... you have to pay attention all the time and do all these combos, kind of misses the point in my opinion. I'm sure it's fun in short bursts, but I see it as tiring.
Well, im getting Witcher 3 bullshot trailer vibes from the whole thing. The character moves extremely slowly, the graphics will probably be worse, and I can't imagine the game playing as slow as it looks as they're showing.
Plus whatever meta the devs envision of course will change as millions of players do their own thing and theorycraft the optimized builds.
I don't think so, I'm cautiously optimistic on this sequel. On one hand any studio wanting to make money would dumb this game down to oblivion so everyone can be a winner and pump the MTX.
On the other, what we've seen is only the start of the game with limited skills. Everyone that's play-tested it in current state says the first 1st act and boss encounters are much harder than POE's. You can clearly see everything hits pretty damn hard, it doesn't look D4 player friendly.
Also you're only watching is Act1 gameplay so far. Max 2 link skills.. this is 1-5% of the current game in POE1 for comparison.
PoE2 gameplay is slower and more methodical for sure, at this point in the game it plays more like a Souls-like. But this doesn't tell anything about how the endgame will be.
Personally, I like this approach. I disliked the power creep and the spam of 1-2 buttons. But I'm sure things will start to change a lot with proper gear.
I think the endgame gameplay will sit somewhere in between what we have now in PoE1 and what we see now in PoE2. Faster, impactful, but less brainless and a bit more engaging. And if that's the case, sign me in!
Right, so for optimal play you will need to switch to wsad/controller. Otherwise no movey-shootey for you.
The guy in the video above says that WASD is intended for ranged classes. It is viable for any class, though, and you can change between control schemes any time you like. Btw, you can still move and shoot if you use mouse-only movement, but it's a bit more difficult and impractical. For melee classes, however, mouse-only movement seems to be more fitting.
I too am happy with the much slower pacing of the game, as I got fucking bored of the 1-2 button spamming in the 1st game around Act IV already. Hopefully, the sequel will grab my attention/interest in the long run.
The sound design is great, but the position seems off. Is it just me?
The sound source seems to be from the players model location (like he is hearing it) and not the camera location. making left/right positional sounds ..off..to me.
Like at 35 seconds, when he passes the ones dying, its hard right speaker centric because its to his right. But center screen for the camera.
Everything sounds 'not quite right' for where it should be if I am looking at and hearing it from the camera.
- Complete rebalance of melee, like entirely.
- New currency trade auction house.
- Reworked base items, armour, evasion, energy shield and a very necessary nerf to grace/determination.
- Refactored banner mechanics, refactored retaliation mechanics.
- League mechanic is a build a ship, crew, upgrade workers town and get items thingy.
- Considerable endgame balance tweaks.
- Finally a bunch of QOL improvements, specifically that currency provides a stronger bonus for lower level items is a good change.
- Bringing tinctures into mainline game.
- Bringing recombinators back to mainline game.
- 2 old ascendancies reworked/refreshed.
- Bleed / Physical damage rework.
- Finally the removal of derp melee totems.
They should have nuked corpse explosion / desecrate dead, maybe next time.

what??
Dont take away my pet class "hold button, everything dies" power. (unless I totem it, then its click button everything dies)
I play PoE the way I play factorio, my goal is while playing it, manually play as little as possible eventually.
Only less work build is Righteous Fire. That one is literally just move around the screen half paying attention so not to run into walls.
