Dead Rising 2 and it's revamp went a bit overboard in silliness but Dead Rising 1 (And DR3 if I remember it.) tried a more serious tone albeit with some quirky stuff too such as various outfits you can change into.
They do play about the same to put it a bit crudely where you have X amount of time to try and finish the game with the best outcome by not missing or otherwise botching any of the plot important events that occur during certain time periods as the game goes on.
(Lead survivors to safety, upgrade your statistics by earning power-points and the themed psychos following deadly sins acting as various optional bosses when encountered.)
First game from my understanding is the more difficult of them with tougher time constraints and other conditions that you have to clear if you want the best ending but I have not played through it myself as it was XBox 360 exclusive until now.
The game looks like crap graphics and gameplay-wise.. worse than DL . Am I missing something here? Is the story good or what?
slap that bitch !
You don't talk like that about best zombie game (alongside reremake and re4) !!!

I´m a big fanboy of DR2 and DR2:OTR, i´d buy DR2:XXXX every year like a CoD
but i can´t handle DR1,sadly. Clunky movement/handling,no coop and no craftable weapons

'Tis a fairly solid port, you can tell that it's the same people behind Dragon’s Dogma's one, the Capcomen are following the right route.
It's a straight one though, the visuals are pretty much the same old I believe, but with DSR, in-game quality AA and Reshade it's not a bad looking game in my opinion. It's perfectly playable with mouse and keyboard (make sure to download the Dead.Rising.Hotfix-CODEX as well), and keys are rebindable too.
As for the gameplay itself, well it's Dead Rising with its pros and cons, wonky as hell, with extremely dated animations and AI, but for me fun is guaranteed.
I definitely miss the crazy weapon combos from DR2, too, the characters/story bits and atmosphere however seem great so far (both lacking in DR3 which felt like something completely different). The time-based missions are oppressing, but I don't mind 'em, since they actually make sense in the context of the game (besides I didn't mean to save all the people anyway )
Christ, it's like every design decision was made to annoy the player.
Oh and I just died because the stupid game wouldn't display the input prompt to break free of a zombie trying to devour my flash and my inputs didn't register.
"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.
Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

Took some to give an idea:
Spoiler:
This creepy bastard keeps killing me
What? Nothing showcasing the wonderful animations?
Spoiler:

Yeah it works a bit better in modern games as the tech for this improved, nothing is ever going to dethrone Assassin's Creed Unity though when it comes to glitches.

I love the awkward expressions, they give the characters an additional layer of insanity to the already stereotyped behaviours. Most of the times the most reasonable people in the game are the zombies themselves xD
@KaiserSoze666: Damn right! Though I was just reading that Capcom removed the giggling boobs physics from Jessie in the new version...for shame. I wonder if the feminazis have something to do with this *checks tumblr* *instantly closes it*
Yeah having never played the first game until now I wonder how the actual psychos will behave if these are the "normal" people.
(Thought that old lady and her dog would actually come up later on, maybe that can still happen in zombie form though. )
Change log:
Following issues have been addressed in this patch:
- Black screen and crash upon launch
- Game resolution resets to default after relaunch
- Cliff's (the machete boss) damage rate scales up with increased frame rate.
- Missing audio under certain Windows configuration
Investigation continues on a potential memory leak some users have been experiencing, which may also be a contributing factor for the framerate degradation.
In the meantime, please try disabling DSR (downsampling) and avoid Alt-Tab task task-switching if you experience frame rate problems.
A new beta patch went live yesterday which is now available via the opt-in beta branch. Feel free to give it a shot. (Check the beta post here for instructions and password)
It will be made available to the general public sometime next week provided there are no new issues.
Here are the changes in the latest patch:
- Background music during helicopter cutscene loops correctly (no gap between repeats).
- Fixed reversed zoom in/out controls during map screen mode. Previously, pressing the analog stick 'UP' zoomed out (and pulling back zoomed in). Mouse scroll direction has also been corrected.
- Additional fix to better recognize DirectInput game pads.
Above fixes are included in the latest build in addition to the changes below which were already implemented in the previous beta.
- Mall music now loops in sequence and without repeating the same track.
- Reduced VRAM usage (currently 1,300MB - 1,800MB) that may have contributed to performance degradation for some cards with small VRAM.
What's the industry going to do when they run out of shit to remaster? Are they going to start remastering the remasters? Let's see if they flat chest all the female zombies for a truly "modern" treatment!

That's what happened with Skyrim and most recently Beyond Good & Evil. They got remastered and then some lazy-ass Anniversary "improved" editions.
Or they gonna do remakes like with Lords of the Fallen, Fable and Gothic (if it ever gets released).
PS: Also GTA 4, 5 and 6 are literally remasters of GTA 3, San Andreas and Vice City. Some day they gonna get modern remasters too :
"Erotica Photography" bonus points removed from the photo mini-game in Dead Rising Remaster. The fucking mentally ills got another one. Thanks Capcom, you fucking cucks.
Probably just the tip of the iceberg with many more "modern awwdience" adjustments yet to be discovered.

To be expected from Wokecom, with some of their games being promoted by SphereTroon and drag queens
That said, maybe it will be easy enough to restore via modding.
