u can get the updates on the ruskie site. I had to update my yarr version because exclusive fullscreen kept giving me a blackscreen, also the cracls there have the Gay sony SDK checks removed so the game doesn't hang on exit and cause weirdness.

Haven't really said much about games in what feels like forever, been replaying some of the older titles instead.
But I had a bit of success getting into this a little bit, making it through the early stories little by little varied by just exploring the island and running away very quickly from the large angry mongol forces.
Absolutely suck at stealth so progression is slow even with some of the bonus gear provided and the additional accessibility options, one of the really nice things I like about these Sony games they really do a good job with allowing some much welcome customization for control and difficulty among many other settings.
Visually it might not be in the top but the artstyle and visual presentation itself is amazing for one who has a bit of a love for older Samurai type movies from the B-tier action titles to martial arts movies and the creations of say Kurozawa.
But the audio is what really gets me, PC system doesn't really have the sound setup that the TV does with the PS5 and with the Tempest update to Dolby Atmos or rather Dolby MAT support this is one of the games where that really shows.
From little audio cues to the music and everything else, sure Horizon might have the visuals but immersion wise and overall this game hits really high up and might be among the very best.
Not sure if its going to last though, heard fatigue sets in although this isn't some Bethesda or Ubisoft open-world where a ton of points of interest dot every part of the map and random encounters spawn every minute or so.
If I can just get into the whole stealth thing rather than charging in this could be quite a nice little game, combat is viable though so at least a player has some options when things do get a tad more hectic unlike some other titles where stealth is a strict requirement.

I finished the main game and just started the DLC and I agree as a game this is far superior and more immersive than forbidden west even if it isn't as technically/visually on par the visual design is awesome and keeps u interested.
I get the ubisoft comparison but I believe this is the game ubisoft wishes they had the talent to make. The world and movement feels grounded, the locations make logical sense with a lot of thought behind them. I enjoyed the combat a lot and the story is quite nice as well. I didn't really bother with stealth either unless I was feeling too tired as it just makes the game a little too easy one hit one kill. Especially when the combat is so much more engaging.
also DOSHO DOSHO!!!

After carefully skipping quite a few repetitive tasks and cookie-cutter content in order to minimize the not-so-honorabru Yvesian checklist syndrome I've finished this Tsushimaman as well, it was both entertaining and mundane but the former sentiment prevailed. The extra-smooth combat system (on the Hard difficulty) going hand in hand with the inspired presentation and authentic-ish writing indeed made the isoride worthwhile, for the most part anyway.
It's still meta-inflated comfort food in gaming form like all its console ex(ex)clusive peers , however, everything works as intended technically and mechanically with m&kb controls receiving proper care, and a noninvasive interface free from ham-fisted diversions which is always a plus. Thankfully, the tone overall is never tainted by cringe fiestas typical of the current era, something that the modern Ubisoft would never be capable of. The game doesn't quite have the chops to produce many highs gameplay-wise because of the formulaic nature and sense of deja vu, but it is quite elegant and with standards getting lower by the ̶d̶a̶y̶ minute, I'd throw it 7 mosobamboos/10 hoping that the sequel will continue down this path while bringing a bit more depth and variety.
Edit:
Glad to see you back, JBeckman-san

Finished the main story last night, quite the epic finale, I loved it. Really great game with some minor annoyances (sneaking in general...), looking forward to part 2.
Also, the DLC seems pretty good, just started it.

As much as I would like to love this game I just can't as it's not as good as people say it is. I waited so long to finally play this and sadly I must admit I'm dissapointed.
Initial impressions are stellar with it's combat visuals and audio. Then it's smooth sailing till 1/3 of the game where it's starting to show there's not much else going on and you've just seen all it has to offer.
Apart from story of course, and even regarding that I'm not sure I'm playing the same game as everyone else. The story is super predictive, writing is not so good and even bad at times, if it was japanese game I would think it's the poor localization but it's the other way around.
There's no variety in side activities and 3/4 of them are useless (ugly ass cosmetic or 100th charm you will never use). I'm shocked to say this but Ubi's AC valhalla did open world activities better. Not only that but even a no hud option was done better by Ubi where objectives were described in the way you could manage without pesky icons nonstop on screen, here it's super tedious to find what you looking for with this option enabled.
One of the strong points is the combat but after a while you can see good but far from perfect and even mentioned AC Valhalla did some parts of it better. Ghost's combat sometimes is clunky as hell, unrespsonsive (can't change stance for 1 or 2 sec for wahtever reason), targeting is wonky attacking fucking paper slide doors instead of enemy, mediocre boss duels, etc...
Performance is not so good, can't get stable 60 fps even on lowest while with fsr frame gen it can maintain 60 on high? Somethings off here, like fps tanks to like 20 each time health goes low and some filter kicks in, super annoying. There are some bugs and glitches, thankfully nothing gamebreaking.
I'm a sucker for feudal japan's samarai action but this is just an ok game where it's praised as something much more refined which is false.

It's a 7,5 open worlder. As said first impressions are great.
Then it gets repetitive. Combat is boring. Picking the right stance, YYYYY, an x once in a while with x box controller, you're fine.
Worst is exploration. I'm not a completionist, but I always want to get all the stuff that makes you stronger. You could explore the whole map and when starting out that's fun, but most of the map is just to empty, it's way to boring and tedious to do. The game adresses this with skillpoints you can spend so the wind guides you to important spots. But skillpoints are to valuable for this and the main problem is you don't now were the wind will bring you, could be the other side of the map, it's still a waste of time.
So there is no real alternative to use an online map, something that sucks cause it's endless alt tabbing and feels like cheating. While the only thing you want is not to be bored with the game.

That's just wrong. Don't get me wrong, I thought so at first as well, then I figured that you don't need to look at online stuff at all. In game help is all you need. Open the map and you can see where the wind is blowing. If it's too far, just teleport to a nearby spot. Or go for something else. Only tedious thing is that you need to have travel attire equipped all the time to see that green helper.

Agreed. Starting out the exploration sucks but after that things come together. Also act 1 has a some dead spots in the map. Unlocked the exploration perks also cause power doesn't matter and it's all fine.

The whole "if you don't like it don't buy it" statement has proven pretty prophetic thus far. Guess Sony hasn't learned its lesson yet. Round two...

Ohh wow. "We're gonna push our agenda and if you don't like it, fuck off" is what i get out of that. The fact that they used a female protagonist was kinda "ehh" but i'd buy it if it was just that, a female protagonist. But of course what comes to light does not paint the situation in a good light. Jesus goddamn christ, these companies are completely messed up

The game could've still done well, all he had to do was keep his mouth shut. Tsushima already had a female ninja thief, all they had to do was pass it as that. Instead like most American discourse these days things go full left/right retard real quick.

Yeah, I don't know what is wrong with this game, but for some reason, in every cutscene it goes to 5fps for me, with the gpu and cpu usage also dropping to sub 10%. No clue why it does that, but I can't be bothered to play like that. It's mostly fine during normal gameplay. Anyone experience something similar or have a fix?

It ended with a "cliffhanger" tho. But since the game was loosely based on real history, I guess it's hard to do the same with a direct Jin sequel.
Tho it seems like the story in Ghost of Yōtei will be completely fictional. At least I can't find anything significant that happened at the place.
