they didnt mention fps, they just said the performance was decent.

Ok

It still give a slight indication of what performance will be.

I'm guessing that with a PC like mine (3200 + , 6800 GT , 2gig of RAM ) i will probably be able to play in 1280 x 1024 , 4 X AA - 16 x AF , all kinds of shadow to medium and no HDR and have decent performence (around 35-40 FPS).

I may be way off but i base myself on that German mini preview Razz

Hmm, i think it's a bit optimistic (no offense)

On this rig, I would just lower a bit AA and AF and it should be fine Wink

I don't think with a 6800 or lower you can play with 4AA and 16AF even with med details ^^ I think high details without hdr or middle without hdr should work very good. But AA in a deep forest? Don't think so but....I wanna test it NOW Evil or Very Mad
But it's so funny they tested with 2200+ and a 9800pro Very Happy

From my understanding its an architecture flaw, not a simple bug that a driver update can fix.

X1K users don't get it either, so it isn't like nvidia folks got screwed. They are using a form of FP(floating point) 16 HDR, which current nvidia cards cannot do with AA.

The X1K series cards from Ati have a way of doing this, but they said they would have to re-write the way they do HDR for it to work, and they're not doing that.

HL2 uses INT (integer) HDR which supposedly does not produce as nice of an effect as floating point.

As of now, the only machine that will support AA and HDR in Oblivion is the xbox 360

Personally i prefer AA over HDR if i can't have both.I base myself on Splinter Cell Chaos theory so it may not be the best exemple of HDR implementation , i dunno.

HDR does look pretty decent in that game at 1280 x 1024 but the horrible jaggies resulting in the lack of AA kinda defeat the whole purpose imho.
