That first video. Oh boy, I predict sharp decline in Homelander writing. Kripke is clearly scared that people are rooting for far-right fascist.
Why? This wasn't Homelander narrating, it was the actor as himself and his aussie accent (new zealand actually)
Kripke literally said he is shocked that people root for Homelander and it scared him, they shouldn't because he is the bad guy. And they tried as hard from the start to write him as such. 3 seasons in and it didn't change. Not too mention they wanted to show how corrupt is the entertainment buisness and the politics but it correlated with Trump being a president so they leaned more into facism and ran with it.
So now we have a promo where Tony Starr is telling people "Look Homelander is a dummy and a looser, don't root for him".

These people are mental. It's not your job to educate/indoctrinate. You're here to entertain, so let people like who they like. Good villains are always popular.

Thats the point though isn't it? That the guy he is satiring does think that entertaining his job, and knows good villians are always popular?
I reckon he has the intellectual ability to understand why, doesn't mean that it's legitimate for them to read the story completely backward.
I mean, you can find Hannibal Lecter to be compelling, well-written, w/e you want, but to make him the hero ? Sure, if you wish, but that skewed interpretation is on you, not the movie writer.

You read the story however you want. Once art is published, it is no longer up to the artist how people interpret it.
And don't twist it, nobody viewed him as a hero. You can root for villains, it's fine since it's all make-believe. If people can't differentiate between reality and fiction that's a whole different problem.
I don't watch it, but my wife loves it so I catch snippets of it.
I feel the writing is a bit 'lazy' for that aspect. Is that the right word? Poorly satirized maybe? As it there is no clever metaphor being used, its direct copy of what they want to portray.
That aside, the way its done doesn't feel 'critical of' it just feels 'abrasive of'. No "It makes you think don't it?" type message. And them 1 to 1 paralleling events will just embolden the discourse of those on both sides of the current situations. As now the lines between 'good and bad' in real life, are being defined in a particularly sided way in a popular TV show. And it being blatantly a not subtle portrayal of real life doesn't help the divisions in real life.
You know, those that do not grasp or use subtly in real life will get a not subtle message from the, for all intents and purposes, reenactment of real life events but with a clear message of who is supposedly 'evil'.
Those that agree will smugly go: SEE!, those that don't agree will decry it as outlandish Hollywood slander. Another stick on the fire. With no ambiguity of the message it is sending.
I feel they could have done it in metaphor, or something, more tactfully and clever.

Reminds me of this:
Maybe that's why Kripke is so butthurt?

I think some of the fingertalking, when she tells the french dude to get laid, was supposed to be funny. The second episode already felt like a filler episode...
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
I generally enjoyed the first 3 episodes, especially because they seem to have taken it up a notch with the chaotic, violent scenes. On the other hand, the plot feels stale at times and also there's been a couple clumsily done scenes like the robbery scene with Ryan's little "accident".
The new character addition of Sister Sage is great, almost the definition of Machiavellic, though I got a feeling she's not going to last that long with Homelander so close to finally losing it. The Firecracker girl (Kara from DBH) brings some dumb eyecandy into the mix, though not much more than that so far. Finally, Negan's CIA character stays mysterious for now, hopefully we're not disappointed when more is revealed about him or his real intentions.
We'll see where this is going, hopefully they won't leave all the good stuff for the final season.

Full of dicks, male butts, kissing, salad tossing. Not a single boob or playfulness around females. Director is a disgusting faggot. This series is getting worse and worse.
