I do the same, when I judge Trump supporters. I see a red hat and I judge.
I do too, I TRY not to see and judge at first anyway (Sometimes I fail). I might judge them after talking to them and realize they willingly went QAnon/Trump Crazy just because: MY team best team! No rational other than "RED OR DEAD 4EVER!".
But like some of my friends are trump supporters. Well reasonable ones, if you consider that possible. They are usually reasonable people, that got duped and conned very well. I don't blame or judge them (much) I blame and judge the ones that expertly crafted a set of tools precisely made to push the buttons they needed to in them to get them to support them.
Well, I take that back, some I do judge right off the bat. If its like one of the people that have a HUGE jacked up truck with Trump stickers, and trump flag, and tons of trump decorations on thier truck.
Then I judge...even if you was duped into it, you don't have to go whole hog into the 'My car is a parade float for Trump' Mode. Those people look like they just want to be angry, and looking to have someone judge them so they can justify 'triggering someone' to be pissed at them. Someone told them what to be angry at, and they have wanted to be for a while and didnt have any good 'sanctioned' targets until now.

I never said stop focusing on the extremist, I said you shouldn't label them all extremist.

See how dumb it is to take hyperbole of what someone else said, but imply it's the same?
It's getting really tempting to post similar things, but from the other side of the conflict, just so we're clear it's not all flowers and daisies either (which should be obvious).. but nah, CBA.
Social media do be like that.

No side is roses and bathwater.
Just worn out of the hyperbole to be taken seriously, from both farther ends of the fight.
Dehumanizing a mass as justification of action and sentiments, is what both sides gasp and scowl at the other doing.
I'm not defending or excusing either side (good or bad). But the absolutism of views of the opposition both are guilty of: All of them are X way, we need to force them to change, or remove them. (Both Muslim view, and anti-Muslim view).
Granted one is for nefarious purposes, the other is a reaction to that. But both guilty of it.

You mean Nazis exist in the far right?
The difference is that the far right, correctly, is banished from the mainstream.
Yeah, coming to terms with what the state of law is and protects, and how the judiciary power is actually exercised on a day-to-day is difficult to accept, including for members of the judiciary branch.
Ending juvenile justice exceptions has become quite a topic for the French elections as well, despite exceptions already existing, this rings familiar.. It's always a hot topic during such periods of time, and it will never fail to be.
The reason for this woman's sentence is highlighted in the article :
Quote:
Maja R was sentenced to a weekend in jail after her comments because she had a previous conviction for theft and had not attending the court hearing for the case.
Generally speaking, it's a good idea to attend your court hearing.
I did not know the cut-off in Germany was set at 20 years old. It does seem odd to give suspended sentences to rapists regardless and the ruling judge got harassed for it, but he justified it by stating that his decision remained one of the most severe for a German court of law, which does seem to be the case.
Personally, I find that it's a very light sentence for such a terrible and heinous crime too, but I don't know all the ins and outs of this case for all the accused either. If German Law cannot objectively punish them, the judge can't change it on his own. I have a very hard time believing the judge wanted not to punish them or something similarly stupid to justify it.
The far right is winning because people can't be arsed to have nuance any longer, don't want to research how their society actually works, and above all, that these parties offer simple, seemingly evident solutions to complex issues. Same old.
Keep in mind that they took a solid step backward in Nordic countries after gaining some actual power and governance.. It so happens that their simplistic solutions are not applicable and that they come to that realization very fast. They're not "winning" anything per se, it's the other parties that lost.

He does seem awfully invested emotionally for someone that's so cool and aloof, as per these kind of comedians' usual.
What an absolute twat, but I guess that's the whole shtick of trying to make you engage with him or some dumb ragebait mechanic like that The Glasgow joke was funny !
Please do enjoy this political tendency for the next 20 years (never mind the fact that left-leaning parties have governed very little, they must be exceptionally efficient..); not that it'll prevent people from still blaming the left for anything they deem too generous/humane in their societies

Most people including journalists don’t know how the justice systems work.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Don't start going around calling people simpletons..
I think we've all written at great length about the reasons for which the far right is rising, said reasons are rather clear and not non-existent.. that doesn't mean I'm going to actually agree with them, legitimize (rather than understand and empathize with) their positions and have a high opinion of their political views either, come on.

No, but you have to fix your own side if you want to offer an alternative to simpletons that go the other side. If all your side has to offer is “not the other side” or “they are nazi and fascists, while we are enlightened”, which seems to be just about all the ideology the center left has to offer these days, the crash is coming hard. If you are not willing to admit to anything wrong because it “plays to the other side”, or bend over backwards to appease your “far” side, because “that’s where the energetic base is”, you’ve lost already.
“You” as in “one’s political side”, not some person in particular.
While the leftist identitarian becomes “woke” to a world dominated by the interests of white heterosexual men, the rightist postliberal "red pills" into a cultural landscape controlled by leftist institutions.
In an odd turn of events, postmodern thinkers like Baudrillard and Foucault are being adapted and adopted by the postliberal right, leading some to use the term "the Woke right" to describe this new movement.

Perhaps its just me. But this seems a long winded way to say:
Vance wears the same well worn and familiar Republican politician suit that has been the staple of the core for decades.
Same same suit since Reagan. I cannot see anything eye opening, or even worth taking that much to explain in that article. It's a self evident given prewritten story of 'conservative republican persona'.
Stroke the middle class, into thinking the upper class is just like them (and you can be them one day, so support the idea of what they are..as you may get it!), and that without the 'steel mills and oil fields' being owned by someone richer than them, America wouldn't be 'American'. Look at me, I was once a poor boy just like you, now I am a rich boy..but just like you.
"I am the supportive bridge between your paycheck to paycheck living, and the corporate elite. We should all get along" (So the corporate elite can continue being elite without too much rabble from you all).
And the [insert other side] is trying to destroy that harmony.
Only difference is the steel mills and oil fields are replaced by [insert current day big business areas here].
Or in other words: Vance - Post 80's Conservative Republican business as usual.
Or am I missing something in that article?
From Nazis to whatever fuck this is. Not much of a improvement. Give people time and they'll dircle around and start repeating the same shit again.
Usually german justice is pretty spot on.
After the US withdrew from Afghanistan they wanted to get 200 Afghans back to Germany who were recruited and trained by the german Bundeswehr as translators or guides. She called this welcome gang rape culture and added the statistic. The hate speech is not mentioning the statistic but the attack on the human dignity (violation of the first article of the german constitution aka. Grundgesetz) afghan workers and the generalization.
edit: In other words. It’s not illegal to post a statistic.
Classic AFD tactic. As is the victimization attempt.

Nazis = kill all those who opposes our Lebensraum and those we consider inferior.
Afd = don't allow into Germany migrants from statistically proven violent rapy cultures.
These 2 parties are definitely from the same apple tree
Hey, i'm not arguing against sensible restrictions on immigration I'm arguing about those who do their utmost at ruining those who brings to light the problems around it.
