I don’t agree with Ubisoft’s scumminess but I’m giving them my money day one for this even if I wished the character looked different. Looks to good to pass in my opinion Very Happy

Props to them for showing long clips of actual gameplay

This one doesn't look too bad, considering it's Star Wars + Ubisoft. I could never get into Fallen Order as it seemed like it was more of a climbing game than anything else, this looks like something with more to it

So Swedish devs for both the new Indy game AND the new Star Wars game

Certified woke, without even having to ask for it by the Publisher Razz

This actually could be better than e.g Horizon FW and Jedi Survivor though, wouldn't be too hard...

After a worryingly dated hands-on with Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft's galactic open world feels less exciting than expected

Quote:
Yes, the "Ubi formula" for open worlds and their icon-littered maps has become tired to the point of parody, but there's a lovable simplicity to them too, the old cliché of certain games being "fast food" returning again - sometimes I want a burger, and if you stamp a little Republic logo on it my simple-minded inner child is still just about alive enough to crack a smile. A bit more simply: I'm not proud of it, but I do quite fancy the idea of a big, busywork-filled map of Star Wars activities, which is probably why EA's Star Wars Jedi games were, if not hugely inventive, at least very good fun.

Quote:
Inevitably, that guard says something deliberately objectionable, like "damn animals, we should skin them all!" to make you feel a bit better about 'sneaking' up to them, in obvious eyesight, and conking them over the head.

Quote:
There doesn't seem to be much in the way of any real detection mechanic here - you knock guards out in near proximity to another on patrol, but they don't seem to discover bodies and react to them. When I did trigger the alarm, more out of boredom (and slight second-hand cramp from watching Kay crouching for an extended period), than anything else, the consequences were minimal.

Quote:
Last and probably least was the dogfighting mission. After a basic escape via Wordle-like hacking minigame (you make an initial random guess of putting symbols into three columns, which turn yellow if they're in the right row but wrong column, and green if right for both) and unnecessary stealth, there's a short gunfight with infinitely-spawning enemies until your ship's ready for takeoff.

Quote:
But in Outlaws' case it feels like a clear step beyond approachable and into something potentially bland. Come back to Jedi, the inevitable comparison given the similarities, it's a painful contrast. Even down to the finer points the level of detail and attention feels lightyears apart.

Quote:
Again though: it's a demo without context, without anything being final, and there is still time. But if I said I wasn't a little worried for this one, I would be lying.

Yep, it's a Ubisoft game. Must be especially bad when Eurogamer has a bee in their bonnet about it. And think about this in context; this is what they wanted the press to see and experience. These are the highlights, to them. What would and should excite people.

Maybe they'll turn all of this around in 2 months lol wut

That's all it is these days, they're all just console games which run on pc.

But hey at least we get the pc gaming show, you know the one where we get to see all those indie titles next to noone cares about ... Facepalm

what the hell is it with the wallhack, why do they put that shit in there, did they ever care to ask gamers if they really want that? i doubt it. it doesn't make sense. Why not make you able to walk through walls too while you're at it

Bethesda must be jealous of the near seamless space travel in this game lol.
You know there’s going to be a lot of comparisons and the inevitable ‘If Bethesda Made Star Wars Outlaws’ videos with multiple loading screens Laughing

Fixed.
Those giga retards think it's probably some sort of black magic.

I'm still laughing at the possible prospect of that rumored FO3/Oblivion remaster with 2 game engines running at the same time, being developed by team bethesda Laughing

Bethesda working with an engine that isn't the one they've been working with for some 25+ years and are still highly incompetent with, that'd be a fucking laugh for sure.

BTW, why is the game called Outlaws?

I mean, so far, we've only seen the mong chick, and that's it. Yet the title suggests a bunch of characters. At least to me.

Seems like Jabba is the one she visits for missions, so Outlaws checks out.

Insert any Star Wars female Mary Sue character since Disney took over.

Even that chubby maintenance worker in the last 2 movies suddenly could drive any complex vehicle she saw for first time. Laughing
