making movies has turned from "being difficult" to "totally impossible", no matter budget, actors involved, amazing technical advancements in terms of CG (can be done for a fraction of the cost in comparison to when e.g Jurassic Park was made) etc. Writing good stories or characters just isn't possible any longer, CG is usually absolute garbage too. amazing how awful we've gotten at making movies in just ~15-20 years. Out of 20 sci-fi movies that comes out maybe 1 is decent/watchable, in the 90's it would've been a split of 50/50 and likely 1-2 would've been a classics.
