I think when a game makes it clear that it's not for you, you don't buy it and get angry afterwards
so the people who do buy it because they were still interested despite it being the kind of game it is, well, they're not gonna be that unhappy with it generally
biggest review hits are for games that are hyped up but broken somehow, where many people want it and are then angry they can't play it after buying
or there is some kind of influencer or sjw campaign against it where people buy it just to leave a negative review and refund
this game people just don't give a fuck about in general so reviews aren't as bad as one might expect

Most people have zero say in the direction of the product they work on. I assume in "creative" industries this is even more apparent.
People stop raising issues when the only thing they meet is resistance from upper management. I worked at a corpo that fired great managers when they disagreed with the CEO about minor shit like features for an app. They were of course replaced with yesmen.
So yes, they might be "drones" but not because they want to. No one cares about feedback from some contractor artist drawing some assets here and there. And most companies are like that it seems. |
I understand that but - it baffles me that as I imagine it - they don't do target profiling anymore? Don't know who plays their game but just listen to someone who read an angry tweet from XE/XIS and thought - well we have to make nongender Freeze?
I've read - but it's tinfoil hat territory - that there's a policy to force DEI concepts in games, to test concept art and character design on people who would never play the game and cater design to their remarks.
You make a product - you sell it for years - you should now who your target audience is and suddenly you switch to some woke bullshit. You start loosing profit but continue for years to cater to people who don't play games. Why?

They are doing Multiverse versions of the characters for the DLC, so that is supposed to be Victoria Freeze as some of the characters accidently refer to Harley by that name in some of the dialogues due to bugs. Still a terrible design for the character though.

of course they knew this would happen, the ones with the money are not stupid. This was a loss they were willing to take to provoke and/or spread their glorious woke agenda.
None of the heavy handed woke games succeed. The ones that do is light on the agenda and of course the upper brass understands this.
