the combat in this game could easily have sold many millions more with good combat. anyone who loves Skyrim would shit their pants for something like this. it has everything you would want, just garbage combat, way worse than anything from Bethesda.

they must've spent so much time on that garbage system too lol.. all for nothing, or rather, all for selling way, way less than it could have with simpler combat.

I can't remember which game it was, Mordhau, Chivalry or something, but the medieval combat just felt so good and intuitive. I really hope they go that way

Maybe War of the Roses? I really liked the game and it was one of the first ones with such combat.

Looks all kinds of epic which was to be expected!
Hopefully it’s not a bug ridden mess at launch!

IGN asking the hard hitting questions about representation in the new game haha, after the lack of coloured individuals in the previous game

Yeah, I am ready.
Just few patches, month or three, and it will great.
I wonder what save system they will implement this time... schnapps, anyone?

That made me remember how it feels to genuinely look forward to a game again, jesus christ be praised!

The first part with its strong immersion, the attention to detail and authentic vibes free from modern sins ended up being one of my favourite games of the last decade, please Henry II don't disappoint men

Combat gets worse the longer the game goes on, but i still freaking loved this game. The part where you go back to Skalitz and it starts pouring rain, cloudy, sad music starts playing, pillaged countryside.. extremely immersive and one of my all time gaming moments tbh. I remember being attacked by bandits during this section, and at this point in the game the combat is very fun.. enemies block you but don't spam the push attacks constantly. You need to feint your attacks and switch the directions up. Later on, it gets really lame and you just end up blocking/countering or stabbystabby in the face. Or better yet just use maces because there's no point in using anything else. Also all the tactics go out the window when you get stronger because the stronger you are and better your weapon skill becomes, you just penetrate through enemies blocks anyways.

I just hope unlike the first game you don't become OP too quickly.

OP too quiclky ?!?

I was even afraid to meet a squirrel in the woods, because I knew it could beat the hell out of me and I would just have to reload my last save point. Again.

Okay

i disliked the combat. You were severly underpowered unless you went to captain bernard the training npc and grinded on him which in turn made you op so you had 2 choices get your ass kicked by everyone or just bash everyones face in. Imo bad design (combat progression). Hopefully they fix that this time around.

Once you have the opportunity to train, you become OP very quickly.

But the learning curve is quite steep in the beginning, as it should be.

The first game was kinda boring imho and indeed frustrating at the beginning.

It was also a benchmark title, graphics sold the thing.
This game would not have been hyped and have gotten all the attention if it looked like any other game.

Now it does look like any other game, doubt people are gonna get excited about this.

First game was amazing or a billion reasons what are you talking about

I also think this release strategy should be followed. Announce it six months before release, like Fallout 4. Not 2-4 years early while continually delaying it and telling people to stop asking about it.

Seems like they're not interested in changing much, which can be both good and bad i guess. i think they need to rethink the combat a whole lot, but nah.. i can absolutely respect it too, they're not about money / getting more sales more than they are about pleasing the fans of the first game and their own original vision of what it's supposed to be.

I really need to play the first but I just know that a 5900X won't be enough to avoid framerate drops below 60, right? Maybe DXVK will help with that tho...
It's comparable to a first person Gothic game, right?

Just deactivate the FPS counter and play it. The framedrops happen mostly in Rattay and the rest of the game runs okish.

With my 12700k I had dips to 55-60 fps only @nights in Rattay and even that not every single time. No idea why. Besides of that it was smooth ride.
I still remember those amazing woods.. daaaaamn. I would love to go hunting again in KCD Very Happy

JESUS CHRIST BE PRAISED!

Time to look into upgrading my CPU.

I do hope they manage to find the perfect balance of difficulty as for me, the best part of the first game was the rise from zero to hero. But once you got the counter, you pretty much became a god. If they managed to find a way to stretch out that rise to the top, it would be great.

But with Henry already having experience, dunno how they'll frame that.

They'll do it the same way they do in every video game. You get amnesia. Or you get severely wounded and injured, lose all your equipment and have to rehab all your skills back
