Sobek was a bitch with good intent but she hated people as a whole. Aloy is a clone of her so somehow genetically (it doesn't work like that but ok) she has that personality flaw. And the other one is same.

Aloy bitching is also inconsistent throughout the story. At the beginning it's omg I don't have tome for this shit to almost forgetting about world ending.

I don't know, this is our understanding of genome as of now. It is known in sci-fi books/movies to explore "memories or behavior inheritance" through DNA so it is not so far fetched (genre wise), that Aloy would have some qualities of Sobek.

Look at Bata who is also a clone but raised in a completely different way but still so similar to Aloy.

I've found the whole main story quite interesting, the side quest were also good, not your standard fetch quests, so I'm not sure what people are complaining about. And the whole presentation is on another level. And I'm not talking graphically, but almost every conversation is "directed" so characters move, gesticulate and basically are no static which is not that common in most story driven games.

But I can understand that the world can be a little to big for many people consider the length of the main story. If you don't care about side activities it might get boring. Maybe level based approach would be better? I hope part 3 will have approach similar to FF7 Rebirth or Gears of War, where you will have multiple open, or semi-open zones.

Totally agree about presentation when it comes to the NPC's, faces and expressions is top notch...

the game itself gets on my nerves sometimes though, mostly because of Karen / Aloy. There are so many "male audience - go F yourself" hints in this. Like someone has a beard and Aloy comments on it and says it's awful and he must get rid of it and the male is like "yes of course, i'm so sorry Karen." god damn how unlikeable they've made her. Way too much focus on strong women too.

How the fuck are they promoting / endorsing women by saying women are 110% like men (as strong or way stronger) and at the same time saying male attributes are soooo bad/lame. it's so stupid. why not endorse what makes us different and therefore more complete as a species overall. But i guess that would mean man+woman=good mix which they hate the idea of.

but it's so much of that shit that yes it does get on your nerves after a while. so what if he didn't shave? only a fucking Karen would get upset over something like a male getting a beard, and only a cuck would answer "yeah sorry, i'll shave" lol. it makes both characters very unlikable in a single conversation.

its the same when they sit at some table and the woman there says something ridiculous to the male who's at the table and he's directly acting like a weak cuck. can't remember the conversation but it made me eyeroll. there were several other instances too, i tend to not remember them because its so stupid.

I did notice some npcs commenting like that yeah. Like a guy saying he enjoys wearing female armour and got bullied for it, while I didn't even notice the difference Laughing
It doesn't detract much from the rest of the game though, to me at least, as there are just a few instances like that.

it's not unbearable, just annoying and imo also a good reason to not pay for this game, you pay at least partially to people who hates your guts (Sweet Baby Inc, which yes, was hired for this game).

Officially? No but FSR3 mods work fine, if you are on a RTX card use Nukem's dlssg-to-fsr3 mod it's on Nexus mods if you any other card use LukeFZ's Uniscaler (patreon only atm there are links on reddit) note that the reflex implementation of the game is complete garbage atm so if you use Nukem's mod or DLSS3 framegen which forces it on you will have frame time issues.

I gave the isodemo a whirl out of curiosity hoping once again to be able to focus on the main quest only and tolerate the shallow writing, but even dismantling the various wild beasts (the most entertaining aspect, hands down) and glancing at the pretty vistas severely started to overstay their welcome after a dozen of hours or so. While it's evident that some talented artists worked on the game and its technicalities are remarkable, it all feels genuinely wasted on such a by-the-numbers Yves-ian framework.

Although Zero Dawn was largely the same, at least it had some mystery going for it and Aloy didn't come across as a smug pop queen affected by a pretty serious case of logorrhea. It also had some minor sense of novelty that the sequel can't quite provide despite the refinements gameplay-wise. Just like with Banishers and a few other members of the Humdrum council, the personal white flag was raised /10

no...

Edit: this only happens in certain areas, seems to be lighting that is broken, its not the entire game, i have a 2070 super, rolled back drivers, no dice.

If it's only in Horizon, could be just some weird glitch with the game and his card.

86 degrees on GPU might reach/ cross a limit there.

Might be overheating.

This game is VERY demanding / stressful on the GPU. Probably the MOST demanding game on PC atm (CP2077 derp-tracing aside).

I just tried this today and honestly did not expect it to be this demanding until my FPS got flattened by certain cutscenes angles just to get back to being smooth when the camera changes then back.
It is graphically impressive, but could run a lot better.

idk about well optimized, man. I judge that based on mid-range performance and it is poor if you have to use DLSS at 1080p to have playable framerates. While DLSS only gets toggled at 1440p and upwards in most other games and they run perfectly fine.
I also heard that unlike other games DLSS does not reduce VRAM usage in this one. So there is A LOT of room for improvement.

I'll give it a "it can be played"/10 on that front but you do feel it hammering your system.
There's a lot of sudden and unexplainable jarring drops for no visual justification and a very obvious memory leak that you need to restart the game to fix.

Obviously you'll get the "I have a 4090 what are you talking about?" posts but yeah

Media and Steam reviews all jerked off about how "well optimized" is.

IMO it's bullcrap. At launch the game ran very hot on hardware and suffered from various cases of performance drops.

What I can't deny is, that the game looks absolutely gorgeous in artistic terms.

Definitely has some memory leak. One moment it runs fine at like 80 FPS then turning into one direction drops it to 35. Etc.

It's fine if you have 12GB or more vram or play on lower settings, the game is certainly a bit demanding on 8gb vram cards, with high textures i'm already seeing more then 8GB vram usage on 1080p.

For nvidia cards it also just got a bit worse since the new drive enables rebar by default which also uses more vram.

What is this supposed to mean do you have problems running it or is this just a brag post?

Seriously no idea all i know is it works fine for me on a 3080 Ti and consumes a lot of vram which is not unusual for Nixxes ports.

It's running 'fine' in 1080p on my aging gaming laptop (2080 super). Some cutscenes have noticeable slowdowns, but during gameplay it's been a pretty smooth experience (played around 70 hours). But tbf, I've been pretty lucky with my pc before, with other games, when it usually performed pretty good while others had issues. I come from a time when adding more RAM fixed most issues Laughing so maybe the 64gb is doing something as well.
