Because it's Blizzard? it's been there MO since Warcraft 3.
At least in my subjective opinion. WC2 was the last good game they made. Then it went to "We are the EA, of non-sports games". Pump out shallow 'even your mom can play it' games that have mass appeal to the casual.

Sure its the same company, but what do you expect the rest should do while the programmers sort the bugs? Sit around and drink coffee?
How about instead of spending so much time and resources to create cosmetics that almost match the price of an already overpriced game, they spend that time to create enemy models, boss models, etc. You know, stuff that influences the content of a game that's lacking proper content?
Don't get me wrong - i totally agree that its a waste of time. And as far as we know they might be doing that too...
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.
Wasn't that bad for getting through the story once. Only got partially started on the blood season however and have little insight into what has happened with the game since.
Saw that they had launched some really nice updates for Diablo 3 though so eventually I ran through that as the necromancer class.
Game had some neat ideas but there was a lot to get through as well, the later on CGI cinematic was a real highlight too but if that is what I can take away from playing the game then the gameplay comes into question a bit.
Got through it as a barbarian which felt like a decent starter though the need for four weapons and building the character around that hit some serious walls when attempting to push into the higher difficulties and later game content.
Rogue was a real joy however, if I ever resume the game that will probably be the class I focused on. Only got the rest up to the mid-20's and did not get to try out the later skills and such.
(Druid had some absolutely lovely shape-shifting animations though but again, not much about the actual gameplay there.)
and now they already gave up on seasons after only three , good god these people are PATHETHIC, MINIMUM VIABLE PRODUCT , i wish i could tattoo that on their effin faces ...
to busy working on ingame shop crap , fuck em all, ofcourse the expansion team could not handle the loot rework part they new day -365 already it was shit and needed to be redone, no lets use it as excuse to ditch work on se4 ....
i payed for 4+ seasons, but i cant get a refund , ofcourse ...
Loot "2.0" design:
- Find a good item
- Find a good recipe
- Add an extra but random stat using the recipe
- The stat is not what you want, but don't worry, you can reroll it up to 5 times!
yeah, loot update is good, but the core game is still meh with only a handfull of builds. Im sick of minion necro or whirlwind barb. If you never played you will have fun. If you played since season 1 you will see more of the same.
I just played it for a couple of days (world tier 2). Finished campaign and all I can say: this game needs a podcast playing at the same time, this is just above idle tycoons or clicker games. Brain dead left mouse button holding, there's no tactics, no strategies. You just spam 2-3 attacks. Bosses can't even make a dent in my health bar at WT2.
Spoiler:
This is my first time playing diablo 4 outside 30 minutes in the beta years ago
That's kind of always been Diablo's appeal though, no? At least for me, being able to sit down, turn off, and then realize 8 hours has gone by.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

I mean sure, that applies to ARPG's in general, so if you get that out of it great. Honestly D4 hasn't been able to do that for me. Can't even force myself to play more than a few hours.
Played 6 hours in the beta and thought it was the worst ARPG I've ever played, because it was just boring and uninspired. I just didn't get what anyone else was seeing.
Played it again now on gamepass and couldn't force myself to play more than 3 hours. Nothing's changed, or you know.. nothing of substance. It has the same problems it had then.
I don't understand how people say this is so much better and all that bs. The items don't matter, nothing matters when the minute to minute gameplay just feels bad and boring. I just don't understand what people see in this.
I am a total noob when it comes to these types of games (I did play D1-D3, but only the campaign back then), but I agree that there is variety missing. Not in the endgame, I am not that far. I am currently in Act 3 and there is just no variety to combat. Not sure if it is every class, but as least as my Necro there are like 3-4 builds you can do, but each one locks you into their own combat cycle. For example being a Darkness/minion build you let your skeletons roam around while trapping enemies and applying DOT, which dwindles them down.
Changing to the other builds via respeccing is itself not a big thing, but why would you? Monsters die quickly enough with any build and changing the build is only changing out what 3/4 abilities you use.
I guess having more than 4 (6 incl. mouse) abilities available might help, but then probably again not.
