Just watched the recap and totally forgot how much of a retard Nomura is when he's crafting his own story, as evident in the final moments before the start of integrade in the video.
Played for a few hours and I gotta say I’m super pleased to have a new Final Fantasy game and to be able to continue the story is exciting stuff indeed. Bearing in mind that it’s on a console, the scale of the environments is super impressive especially when the camera zooms out and is a definite step up from Final Fantasy VII Remake but that was also probably held back by the PS4 I would imagine.
Visually it’s a disappointment in performance mode which is a real shame. I think performance mode also ‘downgrades’ the cutscenes as they play out in engine I think. However it does look crazy super sharp in graphics mode and although I did struggle with trying out both options for a short while, I eventually acclimatised myself with the 30fps framerate which I think is the best choice so far. Feels like a good solid 30fps as well and is plenty playable especially after reducing the camera responsiveness to ‘2’ as I thought the default setting was too sensitive initially.
It really does look phenomenal and is well worth the trade off for graphics in my opinion. I’m sure I’ll periodically alternate between performance mode and graphics mode before I’m done with the game though! Im guessing there will be an update so the PS5 Pro will do 60fps in graphics mode before the end of the year
The music is insanely epic as expected and the audio through the DualSense speaker is really cool. Can’t really fault the audio in any way shape or form!
I didn’t bother with the demo but I’m guessing the whole Nibelheim section is a part of that. And Wtf is that piano playing mini game?! Reminds me of the guitar minigame in The Last of Us Part 2 but way more convoluted! Im not musical nor do I play any instruments but you just know there’s gonna be some amazingly talented pianists out there who will have some great viral videos with this!
Oh and Claudia Strife is hot AF and will hopefully get plenty more artwork submissions than the current 85 uploads on Rule34!
Combat is as weird and terrible as ever, world is more open with a full on ubisoft take on open world. It continues the story so it's something, i guess
Literally every final fantasy pre and post remake has a more fun combat system. I don't know what moron decided to have this weird ass system.
Just so you know, since you are expressing your feeling, I personally don't agree with you and I find this system better than the one in FF16 and FF7 OG or FF12. Not mentioning FF15 which is the worst of them all.

I think the idea behind these "retarded names" as Stormwolf aka Mr Negative says is that the games are a RE-imagination of the actual OG game and not actual Remakes like you would expect. They are just trolling and I'm sure part 3 will be RE-something and it will all actually makes sense when we get the full picture. Notice that Crisis Core is subtitled RE-union.
Probably gonna get some flames for shilling so come at me but this is just my two cents as they say. Anyway I’ve put just over 20 hours in so far and despite the first 5-6 hours being a slow burn, once the world opens up my God is the game good. The PS5 SSD must be putting into some serious overtime to stream the vast areas but it’s a technical marvel to behold.
Not sure how I missed it in the first game but launching an ability and then hitting the X button to switch to tactical mode to then watch the attack play out and the ensuing spectacle unfold in slow motion whilst rotating the camera around the action is pretty exhilarating stuff!
The upgrades, customisations and tactical gameplay is pretty overwhelming I gotta say and there is a metric crap ton of Ubisoft style busywork to do but I’m enjoying the hell out of it so far. I love how there is so much clutter in the environments that all characters send flying. I’d be just running along and I’d hear banging and crashing as they run into crates, barrels, tables and chairs and send scattering all over the place! It’s pretty amusing.
Hot take here but someone needs to tell the Ubisoft CEO that this is a quadruple A standard game lol.

Yeah just like Starfield. I played about 20 hours of that too. Probably jump back in for the DLC. Hopefully by then Bethesda will have improved it a lot
