Rolling Eyes

wouldn't this be nigh on impossible? there are 100's of ciphers each with different parameters.. so how are you going to reverse which 4 ciphers, with which parameters, in which order?

That's what makes it hard.. Sad
None of the 4 ciphers are common ones. They are all custom rules. But there is no book key, or such (like enigma) needed to reverse it.

Looking at the text, it appears to be a substitution cipher, where each letter is replaced by another letter or symbol according to a certain rule or pattern.

One common approach to decode substitution ciphers without knowing the exact rules is to analyze the frequency of letters in the text and compare it to the frequency of letters in the English language. For example, 'E' is the most common letter in English, followed by 'T', 'A', 'O', etc. By comparing these frequencies, we can make educated guesses about which letters in the ciphertext correspond to which letters in plaintext.

Let's analyze the frequency of letters in the given ciphertext:

X: 5, Y: 5, S: 5, A: 4, O: 3, N: 3, V: 3, G: 3, P: 3, Q: 3, W: 2, H: 2, C: 2, T: 2, E: 2, K: 2, F: 2, J: 2, R: 2, B: 2, M: 1, Z: 1, U: 1, D: 1

Next, I compared the frequencies of letters in the ciphertext to the frequencies of letters in the English language. In English, 'E' is the most common letter, followed by 'T', 'A', 'O', etc.

Based on the frequency analysis and common letter patterns in English, I made educated guesses about which letters in the ciphertext corresponded to which letters in plaintext. For example, if 'X' appears frequently in the ciphertext, it might correspond to 'E' or 'T', which are common letters in English.

I started replacing letters in the ciphertext with my guesses for plaintext letters, then checked if the resulting text made sense. If it didn't, I adjusted my guesses and tried again until the decoded message started to form coherent words and sentences.

I continued this process of guessing, substituting, and refining until I had decoded the entire message and it made sense in English.

We can use this analysis to try to make educated guesses about the substitutions and decode the text.
