I dunno. The game looks a lot like the first one, almost seems they are recycling assets from the first game and this one is just an update.
Still, this is gonna be awsome. Playing DD 1 atm and it's so good. Tech is a bit old though. Lightning is terrible and the questing and interface is bad. If they just fix that it's GOTY. No question.

The great thing about Dragon's Dogma is that this is a game for everyone.
You can play it like a soulslike on hardmode or add extra challange playing underleveled. Combat and leveling makes sense just like a good soulslike.
But the base game is an openworld exploration leveling RPG that is done way better then everything Bethesda has ever done. It's a bit more hardcore then your avarage RPG but if needed you can grind your way out. And it's not your typical jRPG grind, grinding is just exploration, it's a fun activity on it's own. People that are into Skyrim are gonna love this.
So if the devs just do what they have to and deliver a decent update from Dragon's Dogma 1, this is gonna be way bigger then Elden Ring. Therefore, GOTY.
where are the hardcore people that defend prixe hikes because of "inflation"?
i remember there being some on this forum.
anyhow prolly game will sell like hotcakes and the pricepoint will unfortunately stick.
Since im a patientbear gamer this wont affect me that much. Just recently bought last of us, returnal and armored core and still have my huge backlog so i guess im at least covered for a while...
the game has issues with the video capturing, so its only really the official videos which looks good, the other ones has blurring and pixelation issues. if that's what people mean when they say it "looks terrible."
i'm hyped, hope we aren't let down..
people are starving for something like this, we didn't have a proper TES in ages as you know. there are other fantasy games, but they don't have TES or DD's vibe, generic but in a good way.

i don't think it looks almost identical, but it certainly won't look like a UE5 game. As someone who mainly plays 20+ year old games i guess i couldn't really care too much
God it's been so long i can barely remember this game, but i remember liking it a lot. Especially because at night time, travel was dangerous and very dark, similar to Gothic at least in atmosphere. But it had a very cookie cutter MMO style quest model so don't get your hopes up there.
I remember melee combat being clunky and enemies being a bit tanky though so i preferred nuking everything with mage.
Was very heavy grind similar to any MMO, yes. All enemies had just small chances to drop mats and you had to cut specific parts during combat similar to Monster Hunter. And very little info in-game on where to get parts you need for upgrades. I spend at least 1/5 of the game time reading the wiki.
But didn't really mind these things at the time. Not sure if I will have the nerves to do that again as it's most likely the same system in the sequel.
Playing it atm and its an old game. Combat is good though, certainly for the time.
It's not a grinder. I'm massively overleveled just playing the game.
Quest are terribe and the gear doesn't make a lot of sense. You have to buy upgrades for a shit amount of money but can't see the potential cause you'll need to upgrade it rare items that are impossible to find. So min maxing this can only be done with online help.
Still, the original game is 11 years old. With some polish this is gonna be great. The initial limitations on fast travel will be in DD 2 aswell though, that kinda sucks.
Concerning the 70$ price tag: AAA games have been priced around 50 euroldolllars for as long as I can remember. 16 bit platformers had that price tag. Inflation post covid is allready 15-20% and development cost are exploding. In the past just a new graphics engine sold a game, now it's hard work: big open world, cinematics, voice acting. It's getting to expensive to be profitable. Certainly Japanese devs are struggling.
70$ is fine and you don't have to buy it. And is not ubisuck kind of greed were they also add micriotranactions to the mix. Same as Diablo 4. The alternatives are indie titles (can be as good anyway) or freemium games.
Wouldn't be surprised if it's not gonna work out this way and it's impossible to develop a AAA title in the future. Or that devs go save and rarely release games like Rockstar does with GTA so that you'll only get 2-3 big releases a year with an insane budget. That shit will involve microtransactions though.
Nah, they have been 60$ for 5-6 years now . It's their risk tho. Higher price = fewer buyers. Which is also why some devs also add in-game stores with real money to lure whales spend even more and balance for the smaller playerbase. And it looks like prices will increase like that every 5-6 years too.
It looks like a demo for Dragon's Dogma 2 could be on the way.
According to a recent Steam update – and spotted by the eagle-eyed community on the Dragon's Dogma subreddit – an update to Steam's backend hints that a mysterious "unknown app" was added to Dragon's Dogma 2's Steam listing.
Furthermore, the app has been listed as "free on demand", which is often the text appended to Steam demos.
It would certainly make sense for Capcom to drop a demo for the highly-anticipated RPG; the original Dragon's Dogma 2 also offered a demo way back in the day, and – if a demo is similarly offered on consoles – it will give players a chance to experience the game on different platforms and select the experience they prefer (thanks, PCGN).
As yet, Capcom has not indicated that players can try Dragon's Dogma 2 before they buy, but the timing of the change to Steam is coincidental, too – Dragon's Dogma 2 is scheduled to release on 22nd March, 2024.
ICYMI, Dragon's Dogma 2 director Hideaki Itsuno recently weighed in on fast travel in video games.
"Travel is boring? That's not true. It's only an issue because your game is boring. All you have to do is make travel fun," Itsuno said when asked about fast travel mechanics.
"That's why you place things in the right location for players to discover, or come up with enemy appearance methods that create different experiences each time, or force players into blind situations where they don't know whether it's safe or not ten metres in front of them."
aaahh i remember. never finished the first one. but yeah, played as mystic knight back then.
one more question: say somebody's steam region is set to Putin. Game is currently unavailable in RU region because war. Can i activate a steam key for said game on Putin-Steam if i buy a the key from a reseller?`
