I replayed the series not long ago, and although the original AvP will always be legendary, AvP2* is in my opinion quite comfortably the superior entry in terms of level design, storytelling and actual mechanics. AvP 2010 is entertaining too, however, it went through a noticeable layer of gamepad-erp-ification with all that it entails.
*the only minor downside is that it requires a manual abandonware installation + official patches + Master Server Patch (from PCGamingWiki) for all the needed fixes to make it run on modern systems. The graphics hold up well too, especially with ambient occlusion and faux HDR injected through Reshade.
But yeah, atmospheric first-person titles have sadly become an absolute rarity in the current rabid gaeming environment. Let's hope STALKER 2 doesn't blyat..
Best one is AvP2 IMOOO... (without it's expansion, though)
I agree, it was an amazing game. I wish it was released today with modern graphics (high res textures, high-res models and lighting) BUT with the original gameplay intact; no "modernized game play"-shenanigans.
Indeed, it was memorable and absolutely terrifying (for my 16yo self). It's also ingenious how the campaigns are intertwined and narrate the same event from three different perspectives, I wish more games did that. AvP and AvP2 showcase two different approaches, with the former taking inspiration from 90s shooters while the latter implements the Half Life formula with its nifty tricks which allow the game to shine.
Two years ago I started AvP 1 Classic with some AvP Redux and Peixoto's Patch.
Started as Predator, of course (it's where my nickname is, after all ). First few levels you fight vs dumb marines and tho you still die from 2-3 hits (think I played on hardest difficulty). But then first level you encounter the Aliens, you are in labyrinth-like corridors in some base and they keep coming out of the shafts, literally you have to only run because they are unlimited. You heal only from your energy, but then you can't use most of your weapons.... Those horrible screams they do and jumping from all sides. Shit's the scariest game.
tbh wab fell of for me.
Ony kind of games he likes are random indie games that i wouldnt touch with a pole or surprisiingly the one or other popular game but i'm skeptical if he really does or if he just act like he likes em to not get backlash and keep the channel going.
He said he hated dark souls combat and even repeated that comment in one of his recemt videos but he also claimed he loved elden ring...
I could go on with other things but...yeah he mostly only got trash takes nowadays.
