today I learned that the guys who made Vampyr also made Life Is Strange
I didn't even register this was a Don't Nod game kek
Never played Life Is Strange, but I thought janky Vampyr was fun enough, so I guess I can believe the game isn't complete ass
The teams from Life is Strange and Vampyr are two completely different branches. Banishers was made by the same people who made Vampyr (including its writer and director).
Nice. Totally flew under my radar as well. I LOVED Vampyr - hoping this one doesn't disappoint!
Wonder if this one is going to have a secret ending?
Vampyr had one if you didn't kill a single person during the choice dialogue segments - and it was the cannon ending IMO. Was really tough, as quite a few of those fuckers deserved it, but it was beautiful.

Sounds like it runs really well too, from what I can find online
My GTX 1080 and i9-9900k system is hitting 100 FPS at 1080p, all settings very high with FSR 2.2 on Quality mode. No performance issues whatsoever.

it looks like a PS4 game so it makes sense. I enjoyed vampyr and thought it had a few interesting mechanics with the town people chain reactions.
Good that this one runs well, I'd rather have a prev-gen game that runs well than one with barely noticeable graphical options hogging all resources and running like shit.
Played a few hours on PS5 and it seems to be a decent 8/10 game in my opinion.
I wish the scenery was more destructible, the amount of times I’ve tried to destroy barrels and wooden objects only for my attack to clip through them was quite annoying, until I figured out it’s only the ‘orange’ coloured ones that can be broken.
It has that AA jank feeling about it which I can overlook but I’m really enjoying the premise and narrative which is hardly surprising for a Don’t Nod game!m
Anyone else playing on the RUNE release have an issue of their manual saves occasionally vanishing?
I alternate saving between two manual saves, and every once and a while I'll open up the menu and the second manual save will just be....gone. I can create another one no problem, but I'm more worried about my drive filling up with invisible junk saves.
I know this is a game about specters and whatnot, but this is taking it a bit to the extreme with the ghost saves.

Ah gotcha. Well glad the Vampyr team has managed another one.
Fun game, though I think it would have benefited if we got to play as Antea for longer to get to know her more and grow attached because as it stands, I don't really see why I should Blame anyone, just sticking to Ascend or Banish as I don't really care for Antea.
Though I understand it's not feasible budget wise.
The game carries charming Dontnodian traits and is rather polished which is always a plus (more so in this cursed day and age), however, playing it feels like experiencing the Netflix adaptation of nuGod of War's cousin crossbred with the movie Ghost. While there's nothing particularly bothersome in it apart from the mundane console formula, its tone is a tad too stodgy for my taste. *raises the white flag and banishes the isodemo*
Just started this to test and the first thing that hit me is the really obnoxious film grain.
Not only does it make it hard to see and I find it annoying AS FUCK in any game that has
it for whatever reason, it can make DLSS perform worse.
So if you are like me and prefer your games clean and crisp do this shit:
Quote:
Just create an Engine.ini file in the path: \AppData\Local\Banishers Ghosts of New Eden\Saved\Config\Windows, with these commands:
Now I can finally get back to enjoying the game and see what it's all about. idk why devs
do this but film grain is dumb as fuck and it does nothing but irritate and piss me off for
whatever reason. FUCK OFF FILM GRAIN
but "forcing" HDR, this game looks a lot better.
use special-k, reshade (lilium majorpainthecactus) or autohdr_force
and while the filmgrain doesn't bother me playing on TV i fucking hate the camera shake (e.g. while running) which cannot be disabled via menus. anyone got any .ini voodoo for that?
This is NOT clean and crisp at all, and it won't be until you also disable the single worse modern gaming bane - TAA! Also, why on earth did you keep another idiotic graphics thing - depth of field?? Our eyes already blur the parts of the image they do not focus on directly and if I move my eyes to focus at the background then I want to actually see things clearly there and not all blurred out. So, for truly clean and crisp looks you need to add the following to the ini file (assuming "Anti-aliasing / Upsampling" is set as "TAA" in game menu):

Dude seriously DOF is fine in most modern games like this one since it's only active in cut scenes and not during game play which is the intended use, it's just the same in most movies and shows nowadays so i really don't see the problem here.
As for TAA it's crap but the game has DLSS and DLAA which are far superior anyway so use them if you can.

That logic lol, film grain and chromatic aberration that movies also have somehow are not ok but DoF is ok. All of them are just imperfection of how cameras work and not present when you look at things in real life. But whatever, do what you want.

... and TAA?? Who uses that crap if DLSS/DLAA is available. It disables it by default.
Yeah, right, that DLSS crap nvidia is shoving down our throats is by definition inferior to native rendering and produces comparable or worse blurring of the image, like TAA. Try making some screenshots with my settings (native rendering with TAA off) and yours (DLSS) and see for yourself.
It is sad to see that nvidia marketing about DLSS works on people, though.
marketing aside, there is no comparing TAA to DLSS/DLAA. The latter is objectively superior at having more detail and less jaggies as it's a more advanced process. The best option is very obviously native rendering at 4K, if you have a 4090, good for you. Most of us don't. So 1440p with DLSS on Q mode it is and it looks mucho crispo to me
boring game, it looks like a triple a game but its a double a game, the main characters are just not interesting, combat dosent feel great, story does seem interesting but not enough to get me invested
yes, but callisto had its atmosphere really good, where banishers at leat in the daytime looks bland af. also smaking in callisto felt like it had weight, in this feel like you swing a stick. i didnt liked vampyr either
