Me and some friends was talking about AI vs humans and the different stances outlook of what is theft, and what is idols/influences.
My view on AI art being theft of style without permission, or chat GPT using books without authors permission to form its ability to write stories, and prose.

- Let's start with AI: It is influenced and/or directly inspired by others art/words/styles to form its basis of ability regardless if the creator of the original piece gave it permission to.
- Humans: They are influenced and/or directly inspired by others art/words/styles to form their basis of ability regardless if the creator of the original piece gave them permission to.

I don't see a difference. Every artist, musician, writer, etc has formed their style based on countless exposures to other people's work, without those people knowing or giving permission for that person to read/listen/be influenced by it.
There is not one artist/writer/musician that if raised in a bubble of complete isolation of exposure to their medium, that would know how to write award winning stories, music theory and notes/chords, or be able to produce professional art.

How is AI doing, exactly what any person that is complaining about it, did to get to the point of the stuff they make?

Is its because its impersonal? Its not another person that studied and looked at 1000's of examples of work, and trained/integrated in those styles doing it?

Is it also/or because it allows anyone to do what they do now? Is it wrong someone wants to create art, or music to express exactly what they are trying to convey and despite having the same exposure those others did to form their style, those people are unable to create it so professionally on their own due to lack of natural talent? But yet wish to just as much?

It feels a bit of gatekeeping to me: Other people that are heavily influenced and molded by the works of countless others to form their style and would be impossible to do so without that exposure is fine. as its Another human 'borrowing and using countless others before them without given permission to do so'. But Ai doing the same thing, just faster is an offense bad enough that they call for boycotts of it.
