I've played the enhanched edition. 60+ FPS, no stutters/crashes etc...
However there are lightning/texture that are a bit worse than the "original" one.
Hopefully the Legacy mod will see the light this time, I still remember when it was announced some years back and was meant to run on the original 2033 engine. It looks like the devs switched to the Redux one and then finally settled on the Exodus SDK (which is ultimately the correct choice )
The VR game, Metro: Awakening, was just a spinoff developed by a completely different studio. 4A Games has been working on Metro 4 for quite a while:
Quote:
The next mainline Metro game is in development and is expected to be released "when it's ready".
The game is being created in collaboration with Dmitry Glukhovsky, the author of the Metro book series.
The developers at 4A Games have mentioned that the story for the next Metro game has become 'even darker' due to the ongoing situation in Ukraine.
No specific release date has been announced yet.
I want it naow.
Meanwhile I'm re-playing Metro: Exodus again. I can max out everything in the game (well, I've got Shading Rate set to 1.5x, 2x and higher can drop below 60 at times) including raytracing. That's on my 3070. Metro: Exodus EE is what the original release should've been: a highly optimized and updated game engine.
I've also used DLSS Swapper to replace the quite old v2.xxxx to the latest; DLSS4 v1.310.3 with preset K (transform build) and DLSS Tweaker to force DLAA. All running perfectly smooth.
