-Deep into Pre-Production (re-iterated that it’s not in a “marketable state” but is playable. Thinks Jeff is right on 2023 date)
-uses the same engine as TOW, but more enhanced w/ action oriented combat and deep RPG elements
-Will feature multiple class play styles (dual wielding knives etc)
-more loadout based than Skyrim where certain upgrades will be restricted to that class, I.E Caster will be given spells, while a warrior will be given more physical attacks
-More colorful than expected as he saw luminescent floura in a cave
-has environmental interactivity like swimming, using spells to remove destroyed rubble that block pathways, etc.
-content he saw represents a pre-alpha state w/lightning not being implemented
-Good chance it’s shown off at E3 2022 and a small chance that it’s revealed at TGA, alongside Hellblade 2
-Responds to Twitter user that 2023 is the most likely date (which we know via Grubb Article)
Flashy, cheap and unimmersive, just the way 202X gamers like it
Interesting, seeing if games really have to be this shallow to sell well? Obsidian would understand this better than most studios, it's like a dumber Skyrim which was already pretty dumb.
Yep. The proof will have to be in the pudding for me this time. It was easy to get excited about The Outer Worlds. In the end, The Outer Worlds made it easy to not get excited about Obsidian games anymore.
TOW I bought maybe 6mo ago on large discount, it was fun for around 8 hours. It doesn't take long till you have OP combat abilities then there's no more depth in the game to explore, follow arrow click follow next arrow.
Like most open-world games you can run, do hours of same same ez combat, loot tons of stuff that you don't need to smash through the game. It's described as an RPG but really it's FPS-Lite Adventure game and overstays it's welcome by 60+ hours.
TOW would have been a way better as a 10-15h FPS game. Correct choice by Obsidian with this game, the derpa's flock to any 160 hour gigantic empty map to run around in. Are there any AAA games that arn't 150h empty walk and fuckaround in the open-world games??
Looks worse than expected and i didn't expect much.
As mentioned it's pretty much a reskin with that oversaturated color palette which looks out of place given the setting.
They just took the safe option rather than doing something new and given how it looks and how many other games are coming this could bomb hard.
Not really a game for me (then either are most Beth games. I can see this selling quiet well if it merely offers an improved Skyrim like experience with focus on the story and making it more cinematic that just endless gigantic world for no reason. In comparison to TOW this game has had a full development cycle and more budget.
I played the shit out of PoE 1 and 2, this video does look proper regarding the world and setting. NPC interaction looks like Bioware though, but unless they make fantasy Starfield, I can't wait to play it.
Yeah also disappointed and when they see how disappointed we are again, they have a little time to sort it but probably not, or maybe it gets delayed to 2025.
Oh right. All you Pilas of Eternity mens got something out of that trailer? It's supposed to be on the same universe, right?
I personally think Eora is boring as fuck. They had all that freedom to make their own world, they went with a boring generic by the numbers world and then proceeded to focus on balancing their single player game to the point of blandness. Then they blame players for the lack of interest in the sequel.
They could have had Tyranny be the Kickstarter game. Terratus is a way better world that I want to see more of, and then have Eora be the world for the game they made for Paradox.
coulda posted the vid at least u kurwas
Microsoft must be really stingy with budget, the combat has that "pause animation to register hit" jankiness and practically no face/lipsync animation polish
i dont understand how they made this so bad. Why does every action look so flacid and weak ? There's no momentum or feedback to the camera, to the act of shooting or swinging the weapon, to enemies getting hit. Its like they're showing us something early in dev thats 3 years away
Someone make another damn Dark Messiah of Might and Magic already. Every time i see a first person game with melee combat it just makes me want to play that. This just looks uninspired overall and sterile AF.
