The default strap is still terrible if you ask me and you cannot wear this for more than 20min at best.
To me, the best strap is still PSVR1 which is so light.. The difference is amazing. PSVR2 isn't as confortable either but it's still better than Quest 3...

it's still super budget but way better than on the Quest 2, and i used the default strap for Quest 2 for many months without any real issues.

So i'll stick with this strap i think, it's not too bad (i can easily use it for 1h at a time).

Ahhh doing the dishes you ""forgot"" to do in the last 3 days while watching a 3D movie.

The only unfortunate thing was i have to shrink the ~400" screen to maybe 50" to be able to see the dishes Laughing

UEVR mod released. Play all Unreal engine games in VR (yes with VR controls, you can have snap turning etc, tons of options). Of course, some games might work better than others.

Picked up a quest 3, its an upgrade to the vive pro 2 I think. At least for weight, usability, ease, and wireless. And visual clarity is pretty damn good.

It's literally just: put it on, shit works. No starting anything beforehand on the PC. Put it on my head, it wakes up/turns on and click either oculus app or Virtual desktop it connects to PC and done. Was skeptical of the wireless quality, but with wifi 6 I honestly cannot tell a difference between wired and wireless. The lens are MILES better than the vive pro 2 ones. for weight WAY lighter on the head.
Blacks are meh, but so was the vive pro 2. Need OLED for good blacks so wasn't expecting pure blacks in it to start with. Going to accessibility options (odd place for it) and changing the contrast helps with a the blacks a lot.

Was going to get the bigscreen VR headset, it looks great. But with fixed custom IPD and custom face fitting it makes it impossible to sell/give to a friend when I'd upgrade from it.

Bought my son a Quest 3 for Christmas. It was a good upgrade from his Quest 2.
Actually it’s a really solid all round headset. I have a Pimax Crystal and although the Q3 can’t come close to the visual clarity, the overall experience is better.
It just works as you say, it’s a good mid range PCVR headset and would recommend it over anything else in its price range.

I had the BSB on order but ended up cancelling it. The many reports of incorrect IPD units being received by customers and having to go back and forth trying different headsets until they got it right, and uncomfortable fitting face gaskets, especially around the bridge of the nose. People were actually biting pieces out of the gasket to relieve the pressure 🤣
Then the killer glare and tiny sweet spot killed it for me.
I hated the G2’s small sweet spot and the BSB is meant to be worse, like looking though a straw.
Some people don’t mind moving their heads to look but I like to be able to glance with my eyes. Something you can’t do with the BSB, you have to move your head all the time as the sweet spot is tiny.

I had the reverb G2, and didn't like it much either. lens halo was BAD in it or at least the one I had, the controllers was terrible (I was spoiled with the knuckles) and pairing it with knuckles was a PITA needing dongles and constant recalibration of holding both the knuckles and g2 controller and waving them around.

Also I really really dislike WMR. Doing anything was get WMR started, get steam VR started wait for them to sync, and have both MWR and Stream VR in the background.

Id say between all the ones I have had. It's the one I would recommend unless you are going $2000+ range.

I've had: Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, HTC Vive Pro, Valve Index, HP Reverb G2, Vive Pro 2, Pico 4, and Quest 3.
Quest 3 is the 'best' all around. Some are better at other things, some the Quest 3 better at. But if I had a overall ranking of categories for like visuals, weight, easy of use, hassle to 'get into VR' prep and all that. Quest 3 would have the best overall score total. Probably not the best in most areas, but close enough/high enough scores in them all to beat the rest for total scores added up.

After past headsets, I was honestly shocked how easy to prep to get into VR it is, even wireless to PC: Put on headset, it comes on itself, push a button in VR and either Quest App, Virtual Desktop App, or Steam VR is up in it. I just use VD for everything though. The tweaks and 120fps in everything makes it pretty much a 'go to' for PC wireless.
I miss my knuckles Sad. But with the optional hand straps that lock them to your hands, it's pretty much same same other than no finger tracking. But only like 2 games use that anyway. And the quests 3 true handtracking is pretty damn good (no controllers at all)

Meh waiting for new Valve hardware, while we need Facebook to sell cheap headsets to keep VR alive I'll never spend anything on Facebook hardware/software.

I think Valve is playing VR smart. The tech was/isn't at a point of getting mainstream adoption. I think they shifted into the steam deck as a more profitable way to develop the hardware required to get VR headsets to a point they need to be. May as well let Facebook spend a fortune on RnD to keep the industry moving, slowly continue development and release something when the time is right.

It needs the fidelity / power beyond what the first index offered, to be affordable, not require cable, and ship with games of the quality or better than HL Alyx. This can't be done with current gen VR gear, imo.

that's pretty much Q3, though fidelity could perhaps be better (OLED screens would do, i don't need higher res than this). that its stand-alone makes it very mainstream too, which is a must for VR to progress beyond being just super niche.

I'm with you vurt, my only 'would be nice' I can critique Q3 for is OLED. But other than that, it is the best headset I have had out of like 8 of them hands down.

Like going from vive pro 2 to it, the instant I put it on there was no hesitation or needing to switch back and forth to compare. The first 20 seconds in it I was like: Yep daughters getting a used vive pro 2.

Yeah i don't know, I'm looking at the current release list and nothing outside what I already owned 4 years ago when I got VR looks compelling. I would still only be playing those things that released 4 years ago, Alyx kind of spoiled the experience for me, i want games like that not [insert some game] with a VR mode lazily tacked on.

And that dev completely wrecked Onward downgrading it to run on Facebook Quest so there's no reliable go-to VR MP FPS i like now, Pavlov is meh, maybe Ghosts of Tabor is good / not played?

I'm looking at the new release list, out of 100 something titles - maybe Tabor, Arizona Subshine 2 and Bonelab i never tried either. Bump thread when Valve comes back with full blown game and new hardware.

Asgard's Wrath 2 is probably the biggest release since long, free if you buy the Q3. It's quite good.

Asgard 2?

Its only for Quest 2 and 3. "Native" game. (So it runs on the HW). No pc version this time.

@AmpegV4
Thats fair.
Not many VR games interest me either, well not VR only games. I got headset for doing VR in: sim racing, VaM, and MS flight sim.

Now and then I will do golf, or table tennis with friends...which is odd, as I have never played or desire to play real golf in my life haha. But fun in VR.
I can't remember the last time I played a popular 'VR' game in it. Like beat saber, job sim, etc.

Tried Alex, but I'm not big on story driven, FPS+puzzles games. I was really into it until I ran into the first puzzle and went "Oh...one of these games" and didn't play it again.
Either needs to be a pure puzzle game or FPS for me to like it. Both smashed together always felt weird to me. It would be like if full contact Chess, or Ski Boxing, was a thing. Two totally different skill sets and mentalities of approach stapled together.
